A method and apparatus for performing an inter-master eNodeB (MeNB) handover procedure without secondary eNB (SeNB) change in a wireless communication system is provided. A target MeNB decides to keep bearers of a SeNB, and transmits a handover request acknowledge message including a first indication of keeping the bearers of the SeNB to a source MeNB. The first indication may indicate that a user equipment (UE) context in the SeNB is kept. Upon receiving the handover request acknowledge message including the first indication, the source MeNB transmits a SeNB release request message including a second indication of keeping the bearers of the SeNB to the SeNB. The second indication may indicate that a UE context in the SeNB is kept.

A method and apparatus for transmitting a secondary eNB (SeNB) release request message in a wireless communication system is provided. A master evolved NodeB (MeNB) of dual connectivity receives a message including a cause, which indicates that a user equipment (UE) has not successfully applied a secondary cell group (SCG) configuration, from the UE, and transmit the SeNB Release Request message including the cause to a SeNB.

A method of performing an inter-eNB CoMP operation in a wireless communication system includes receiving, by a first eNB, a first LOAD INFORMATION message that requests the start of the CoMP operation from a second eNB, sending, by the first eNB, a second LOAD INFORMATION message for requesting Benefit Metric Information Element (IE) to the second eNB, receiving, by the first eNB, a third LOAD INFORMATION message, including the Benefit Metric IE from the second eNB, coordinating, by the first eNB, the resources of the eNBs included in the CoMP cluster, and sending, by the first eNB, a second LOAD INFORMATION message including results of the resource coordination to the eNBs included in the CoMP cluster.
