Abstract: This disclosure provides a method and apparatus for the communication of low delay data over multiple channels having different speed and latency and requiring a different amount of time to set up. In one embodiment, the transmitter removes duplicate data packets from a queue after a second channel, such as a dedicated channel is established. In an alternate embodiment, sequence numbers are assigned to data packets, allowing the receiver to identify duplicate packets and ignore the duplicates.

Abstract: A novel method and apparatus is disclosed for performing seamless handoff of a mobile station (MS) between Radio Access Networks (RANs) that use different types of wireless interfaces. The described embodiments enable an MS to handoff between different RANs without causing routing ambiguity, and without substantial loss of network data. Upon moving from the coverage area of a first RAN using a first wireless interface to the coverage area of a second RAN using a second wireless interface, an MS determines whether routing ambiguity may result from the change of RAN and, based on the determination, triggers a re-registration of its network address. A foreign agent (FA) within a packet data serving node (PDSN) monitors network address re-registrations in order to determine whether multiple RAN-PDSN (R-P) connections are being created for the same MS. Based on this determination, the PDSN terminates redundant R-P network connections resulting from movement of the MS between different RANs.

Abstract: A portable ladder having stabilizer brackets slidably mounted on the ladder siderails to permit the ladder to be mounted to a flatbed trailer tiedown rail. The slidable stabilizer brackets are substantially self-adjusting in position, and adjust automatically, for example, when a load is removed from the trailer. The ladder may optionally include two sections pivotably interconnected to facilitate handling and storage. A lock to secure the two sections together in an extended position may also be provided. The advantage is a lightweight, portable ladder which can be used with practically any flatbed trailer. The ladder adjusts substantially automatically to the height of the trailer to provide stable access to the trailer bed.

Abstract: A method for detecting delayed data frames in a transport function includes the steps of comparing a frame sequence counter with a predetermined threshold value (304), detecting a delayed frame if the sequence counter exceeds the threshold value, and processing the detected delayed frame accordingly (306). In an RLP data transport protocol, the delayed frame may be processed as a retransmitted frame. The threshold value may be proportional to the maximum number of frames sent in a given bundle times the maximum delay, in units of frame intervals, between frames sent simultaneously over the air in the same frame interval.

Abstract: A method for delivering SMS to ATs in a first communication network providing DO and 1x interfaces and for offloading the delivery of the SMS from a second communication network including an MSC, comprising monitoring a DO control channel for pages by an AT and delivering the SMS in SIP to the AT over the DO interface. The method may further comprise tuning the AT to the DO interface and determining whether the AT is SIP registered for using the DO interface. An application server determines whether the AT is SIP registered for using the DO interface. When the DO interface is not available, the SMS may be delivered over the 1x interface and the method further comprises the AT sending a special SMS to an SMS gateway, which causes the application server to remember that the AT is now monitoring the first communication network including a circuit-switched network.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting PPP instances from a packet data services network includes a mobile station configured to send an origination message to a packet data service node (PDSN) at which it has arrived upon leaving the vicinity of another PDSN. The message informs the new PDSN of the new location of the mobile station and indicates both the number of dormant PPP instances associated with the mobile station and a service reference identifier for each such PPP instance. A flag within the message may be used to indicate whether the PPP instances are dormant (i.e., whether the mobile station is engaged in a call).

Abstract: Un procedimiento para transmitir variables de autenticación desde un extremo de transmisión hasta un extremo de recepción, que comprende generar un valor de cripto-sincronización en el extremo de transmisión; generar una primera firma de autenticación a partir del valor de cripto-sincronización y una clave de encriptación en el extremo de transmisión; caracterizado porque el procedimiento comprende: transmitir el valor de cripto-sincronización y la primera firma de autenticación al extremo de recepción; generar una segunda firma de autenticación a partir del valor de cripto-sincronización y la clave de encriptación en el extremo de recepción; incrementar el valor de cripto-sincronización en el extremo de recepción si la primera firma de autenticación y la segunda firma de autenticación coinciden; y solicitar un intercambio de claves de encriptación si la primera firma de autenticación y la segunda firma de autenticación no coinciden.
