Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for effecting handoff in a system supporting both wireless and packet data service communications.SOLUTION: A serving network provides a target network with information sufficient to establish Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connections for handoff. In an alternate embodiment, the serving network and the target network do not share capabilities with respect to concurrent multiple service instances. When the serving network knows the status of the target network, the serving network takes responsibility for the handoff.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and apparatus for compression of headers in broadcasting BCMCS services in a wireless communication system.SOLUTION: Techniques used in BCMCS systems without feedback include sending static context information during BCMCS service initialization for use in a decompressor in a mobile station. Techniques used in BCMCS systems with feedback include receiving feedback from distributed mobile station decompressors and adjusting a broadcasting compressor in response to the feedback. Techniques that reduce the number of operating states in both the compressor and the decompressor are described. Techniques to classify flows so that a reduced number of contexts are used to compress/decompress session packet headers in a push-to-talk service are described.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for transmitter re-initialization in a wireless communication system 810.SOLUTION: When a communication link between a mobile station 38 and a base station 32 is in trouble, the mobile station and an infrastructure arrange with potential rescue base stations 34 in advance. The mobile station 38 disables a transmitter during the rescue process. On recovery, the transmit power level of the transmitter is incremented for transmission of a pilot strength measurement message until a hand-off direction message is received. The transmit power level is incremented to a maximum value.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the dynamic assignment of a home agent and a home address in wireless communication so that a mobile node away from a home may receive local access services from a network in a visited destination. SOLUTION: A mobile node accesses a network in a visited destination. The network in the visited destination authenticates the mobile node by its home network. The network in the visited destination then assigns a visited home agent and a home address for the mobile node. The mobile node subsequently performs secure binding with the visitor home agent. The mobile node continues communication using the visitor home agent and the home address. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method in which an origination station broadcasts a broadcast program to at least one of a plurality of destination stations. SOLUTION: A first destination station (or a first group of destination stations) receives a first registration period parameter from the origination station. The first registration period parameter specifies a first period during which the first destination station must register with the origination station. The first destination station may block any attempted registration request that occurs outside the first period. Alternatively, the origination station can deny any attempted registration request by the first destination station that occurs outside the first period. If the registration request from the first destination station is sent before the first period begins, then the destination station can periodically request registration until a request is sent within the first period. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for multicast service initiation in a communication system. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method and system for multicast service notification in a cellular telephone system that enables cellular telephone systems to provide both multicast and point-to-point services. Several embodiments describe the signaling interaction between an access network and subscriber stations belonging to a multicast group to allow the access network to properly notify the subscriber stations of the multicast service. Such a signaling, further allows the subscriber stations to recognize the multicast service notification to participate in the multicast service. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system enabling a subscriber station to function in both a broadcast mode and a communication mode. SOLUTION: A method and a system for providing signaling in a cellular telephone system providing broadcast services fully integrate broadcast services with the service provided by the cellular telephone system. The signaling method coordinates interaction between an access network and the subscriber station to allow the subscriber station to decode the broadcast service to receive paging messages while receiving the broadcast service to properly transition between operation states, and other functions known to persons skilled in the art.
