Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound reduced in the residual content of an unreacted polyisocyanate and excellent in durability such as yellowing resistance, water resistance and weather resistance by adding a polyol to a polyisocyanate. SOLUTION: This method for producing a modified polyisocyanate comprises adding (B) a polyol to (A) a polyisocyanate at a rate of 0.1-1 reaction equivalent/h. The addition treatments are carried out preferably twice or more, more preferably five times or more. The component B is preferably dissolved in a solvent and subsequently added. The method can thereby provide moisture- curable compositions suitable for coatings, adhesives, sealants, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a coating compsn. improved in stability by polymerizing a radical-polymerizable monomer in the presence of a chain transfer agent having a specific hydrolyzable silyl group. CONSTITUTION:A coating compsn. contg. a stably dispersed acryl-silicone resin having hydrolyzable silyl groups of formula II at molecular ends is obtd. by putting a suitable amt. of water into a reactor, adding dropwise a mixture comprising radical-polymerizable unsatd. monomers, such as methyl methacrylate and n-butyl acrylate, and a chain transfer agent having a hydrolyzable silyl group of formula I (wherein R is an org. group; R is a hydrolyzable group; R is H, alkyl, or aryl; and n is 1-3) (e.g. 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane) in an amt. of the agent of 50mol% or lower of the total amt. of the monomers to water under stirring, adding dropwise a water soln. of a radical-polymn. initiator, such as ammonium persulfate, when about 10% of the above-mentioned mixture is added, adding the rest of the mixture while keeping the temp. of the reaction system at 80-90 deg.C, continuing stirring for a certain time, and cooling the system.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a porous membrane having sulfonic acid groups enough to effect cation exchange by processing a poly(vinylidene fluoride)resin porous membrane with a mixture of sulfuric acid anhydride, and dry air or inert gas. CONSTITUTION:By processing a poly(vinylidene fluoride) resin porous membrane with a mixture of sulfuric acid anhydride, and dry air or inert gas, a crosslinked sulfonated poly(vinylidene fluoride) resin porous membrane is produced. A melt membrane formation method of this membrane is such that molten polymer is delivered in the form of a flat membrane or a hollow fiber membrane and stretched to form a porous structure. Crosslinked sulfonating reaction depends on temperature of sulfuric acid anhydride, reaction temperature and reaction time and by controlling these factors, a crosslinked sulfonated porous membrane can be produced. As methods for producing such membranes, there are batch method, continuous method, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To contrive the reduction of the volume of radioactive waste and of the space required for installing a filtering and desalting device by providing a filtering layer consisting of hollow fabric membrane filter and a desalting layer consisting of ion-exchange fiber as a constituent in the same container. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a filter layer consisting of hollow fabric membrane filter 2 and a desalting layer 8 consisting of ion-exchange fiber as at least a constituent. The filter layer and the desalting layer 8 are received in the same container to effect filtration through the hollow fabric membrane 2 and remove ionic components through the ion-exchange fiber. As a result, since the ion-exchange rate is large to improve water quality and the lifetime of the desalting layer can also be extended, a contrivance can be made of a way to reduce the volume of radioactive waste and the space required for installing the filtering and desalting device. The simplification of the device can also be contrived from the aspects of its operation. Moreover, this device is applicable not only to the field of nuclear power but also to the field requiring the use of a highly pure water, e.g. the water treatment in electronic industry, drug manufactures and hospitals.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the porous membrane with the water permeability not decreased even after dried and excellent in handlability by forming a dense layer on the surface of one side of the membrane, gradually increasing the diameter of the pore toward the other side, eliminating giant closed cells and depositing a surfactant on the membrane. CONSTITUTION:The surface of one side of the membrane consists of a dense layer having =5mum or further >=10mum diameter, and a surfactant is deposited on the membrane. Consequently, the water permeability of the membrane is not changed even when dried, foaming is not caused when the end of the hollow-fiber bundle is sealed with an adhesive to produce the module, and leakage is not caused.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject ion-exchange fiber having extremely high ion- exchange speed and exhibiting remarkable effect in the ion-exchange and adsorption separation in dilute state by graft-polymerizing ion-exchange group to ultrafine fibers. CONSTITUTION:An ultrafine fibrillated fibers having a fiber diameter of 0.00001-0.1mum are produced by spinning a multicore sea-island type composite fiber composed of polyester, polyamide, etc., drawing said composite fiber and removing the sea-component from the product. The fibrillated ultrafine fiber is immersed in an acidic vinyl monomer having carboxyl group, preferably a solution of a mixture of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid and the monomers are polymerized to obtain an ultrafine ion-exchange fiber containing cation- exchange group introduced into the fiber. Since the obtained fiber has large specific surface area and extremely high ion-exchange rate, it can be suitably applied in a wide application field such as the softening of water, desalination of sea water and removal of harmful metals.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyvinylidene fluoride resin porous film suitable for concentration and separation of substance such as reverse osmosis, ultrafilteration and precise fiteration, by a method wherein the title film is constituted of two layer structure of transmission layer whose mean hole diameter is specified and a supporting layer. CONSTITUTION:A stock solution obtained by dissolving polyvinylidene resin into a solvent mainly composed of dimethyl sulfoxide is cast on a glass plate, after an end of a film has been fixed so that the film is not peeled off, the film is dipped into hot water, the film is solidified only from one side of the film which has come into contact with the hot water and a flat film is manufactured. This film is constituted of a transmission layer 1 possessing fine many holes whose mean diameter is 0.01-1mum on a solidified side and a supporting layer 2 possessing many holes whose mean hole diameter in the surface running parallel with the surface of the film is 1-20 mum on a glass surface side. Therefore, demarcation characteristics where water permeability is high and sharp is obtained.
