    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a porous membrane of a polytetrafluoroethylene-based resin excellent in mechanical performances (strength and elongation and puncture pressure). CONSTITUTION:In this method for producing a porous membrane of polytetrafluoroethylene-based resin, comprising molding an uniform mixture obtained by mixing a dispersion of the polytetrafluoroethylene-based resin with a fiber forming polymer and then heat-treating the resultant moldings at a temperature not lower than melting point of the resin and removing the fiber- forming polymer, preliminary heat treatment is carried out at >=160 deg.C and a temperature lower than melting point of the resin prior to the heat treatment.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily control, to shorten the residence time of a working liquid, to produce in a flow system and to improve productivity by using a separation membrane in an oxidation-reduction process. CONSTITUTION:In a reduction process, a working liquid 1 is transferred to a separation membrane module or separation membrane element 4 by a pump 2 and hydrogen 7 is fed into the other side of the separation membrane. In an oxidizing process, a working liquid 5 is transferred to a separation membrane module or separation membrane element 11 by a pump 9 and oxygen 14 is fed into the other side of the separation membrane. Since the gas-liquid mixing reactor using a gas permeable membrane performs gas-liquid mixing by using a vapor-liquid equilibrium relationship, gas more than that in a saturated state is not mixed in. Therefore it is not possible that excess gas not required for reaction is mixed in to generate insufficiently dissolved bubbles in the working liquid. In addition, the feed quantity of gas to the working liquid is controlled by a simple operation and reduction or oxidation reaction us performed uniformly and in a short time, in a flow system.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the above element which is high in mechanical strength and is usable in arbitrary forms and to increase the response speed thereof by consisting the element of the hydrous polymer gel fiber of a blend system consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer and a high-polymer electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:This element is formed to consist of the hydrous polymer gel fiber of the blend system consisting of the PVA polymer and the high-polymer electrolyte. The hydrous fiber obtd. by spinning the PVA polymer and the aq. original liquid of the high-polymer electrolyte is subjected to a freezing treatment and thawing treatment. The hydrous fiber obtd. by spinning the PVA polymer and the aq. original liquid of the high-polymer electrolyte is subjected to the freezing treatment and thawing treatment then to a neutralization treatment. The hydrous fiber obtd. by freeze spinning of the PVA polymer and the aq. original liquid of the high-polymer electrolyte is then subjected to the freezing treatment and thawing treatment. Further, the fibers are subjected to a neutralization treatment in addition to the above-mentioned treatments. The mechanical strength is enhanced in this way and the response speed is increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the surface of woven fabric with a specific change, by stretching or shrinking woven fabric consisting of expandable and shrinkable polymer gel yarn in a solvent and then drying. CONSTITUTION:For example, woven fabric consisting of polytetrafluoro yarn as warp and polyacrylonitrile yarn as weft is heat-treated at 220 deg.C for 3 hours and then saponified in an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide to give woven fabric consisting of expandable and shrinkable polymer gel yarn. The woven fabric is treated with hydrochloric acid to provide shrinkage in the lateral direction and water content is removed in a hot air dryer. The treated fabric has the surface consisting of an extremely gently-sloping curve, the fabric is provided with a greatly specific change of surface having a curvature changing depending upon a position and with specific touch of softness and roughness.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To further improve the quality of ultrapure water as compared with the present quality and to miniaturize the apparatus by treating raw water with a hollow yarn membrane having a specified ultrafiltration velocity before the water is treated with an ion exchanger. CONSTITUTION:An ion exchanger at least a part of which is composed of an ion-exchange fiber is used for producing ultrapure water. In this method, raw water is treated with a hollow yarn membrane having 5-2,000ml/hr.m .mmHg ultrafiltration velocity and whose inner diameter is regulated to 150-350mu (10-100mu film thickness) before the water is treated with an ion exchanger. Consequently, the quality of ultrapure water is further improved as compared with the present quality and the apparatus can be miniaturized.
