Abstract: PURPOSE:Title composition that is prepared by incorporating a salt from melamine and cyanuric acid to a polyester resin, thus showing good flame retardancy without any adverse effect on the mechanical and electrical properties and heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 parts by wt of a polyester as polyethlene terephthalate, preferably its powder, are kneaded with (B) 3 - 20, preferably 5 - 15 parts of a salt from melamine and substantially equimolar amount of cyanuric acid, preferably its powder with particle sizes of lesser than 100 microns and (C), when necessary, 0.3 - 10 parts of a compound containing triazine ring as trisphenylisocyanurate as a dispersant by use of a unimelt type extruder. The combination with a halogen- containing flame retarder improves the arc resistance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a flame retardant polyester resin composition having excellent non-dripping property and arc resistance, while keeping high flame retardancy, by adding calcium sulfite, etc., to an aromatic polyester containing or copolymerized with an aromatic halogen compound. CONSTITUTION:A polyester composition comprising (A) an aromatic polyester containing or copolymerized with 5-50 wt% of an aromatic halogen compound, and (B) 1-50 wt% of calcium and/or barium sulfite anhydride having a particle diameters of 0.05-10mu. The atomic ratio of the total halogen atoms in the composition to the sulfur atoms in pref. 0.5-5 to 1. Addition of 1-100 part of fibrous material such as glass fibers to 100 parts of the polyester improves the heat resistance and stiffness of the molded article. The composition thus obtained is especially suitable to injection malding.
