    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and continuously producing the subject compound in high selectivity and productivity through epoxidizing 1,5,9- cyclododecartriene with hydrogen peroxide. SOLUTION: This method comprises the following process: using a continuous multi-tiered oxidation reaction arrangement where a plurality of reactors are mutually connected in series, the 1st reactor is fed with 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene, a catalyst and hydrogen peroxide to carry out the epoxidation of the 1,5,9- cyclododecatriene to form the objective 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene, the reaction liquid containing the objective compound is then withdrawn from the 1st reactor and subsequently fluidized successively in the succeeding reactors along with epoxidizing the rest of the 1,5,9-cyclodecartriene to further form the objective 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a metal-containing polycyclic aromatic polymer which can give a carbonaceous inorganic fiber having excellent mechanical properties and markdly improved oxidation resistance when infusibilized and baked. CONSTITUTION:This polymer comprises a titanium-containing organosilicon polymer (A) mainly consisting of bonding units (Si-CH2) alone or both of bonding units (Si-CH2) and bonding units (Si-Si), has hydrogen atoms and/or lower alkyl groups as the side chains of the silicon atoms, and has titanium atoms bonded to at least part of the silicon atoms directly or through oxygen atoms, a polyaromatic compound (B) having a skeleton mainly consisting of fused ring structures and being in a mesophase state, and an optically isotropic polycyclic aromatic compound (C) having a skeleton mainly consisting of fused ring structures and in which at least part of the silicon atoms of polymer A are bonded to carbon atoms of the aromatic rings of compounds B and/or C, and the optically isotropic structures are dispersed in the optically anisotropic structure in the form of 100mum or smaller discrete spheres.

CONSTITUTION:A silicon-containing polycyclic aromatic polymer which is a thermal reaction product, at 200-500 deg.C, of 100 pts.wt. random copolymer wherein silicon of an organosilicon polymer comprising a carbosilane shown by formula I (R1 is H or CH3) and a silastyrene shown by formula II (R2 and R3 are CH3, phenyl or H) in a ratio of (7:3)-(3:7) is at least partially bonded through an aromatic ring of pitch (and heat-treated material thereof) and silicon carbon connecting group and 5-50,000 pts.wt. polycyclic aromatic compound in a mesophase state (and in an optically isotropic state) obtained by heat-treating pitch is spun, infusibilized and burnt in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere at 800-3,000 deg.C.
