Abstract:
A serviceable gas/liquid separator (300) is provided. The gas/liquid separator has a cross-section with one long axis and one short axis, with an aspect ratio of at least 1.3. A preferred cross-section, is an elliptical cross-section. Assemblies in which the separator unit can be used, are provided. In addition methods of use and construction are provided.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a filter for the separation of contaminants from a gas stream, comprising a) a multi-piece housing with a housing body (20) and a housing head (22), whereby the housing head (22) has an inlet (26) for the gas stream to be purified and an outlet (30) and the housing head (22) furthermore has a first sealing surface (32) and b) a filter element accommodated in the housing, with an element head (36) and a tubular element body (38) which has a central element axis (42) and an element interior (44), whereby the element head (36) has a second sealing surface (48), which co-operates in a detachable manner with the first sealing surface (32) and a curved inlet manifold (50) is formed between the inlet (26) and the element interior (44). The inlet manifold (50) is embodied partly in the housing head (22) and partly in the element head (36), such that the first sealing surface (32) and the second sealing surface (48) contact in a sealing plane (58), running at an angle between 90 DEG and 60 DEG , preferably between 90 DEG and 70 DEG to the element axis (42) and a radially arranged seal (46) is provided on the seal plane (58), forming one of the both sealing surfaces (32, 48).
Abstract:
A filter for gravity-fed applications, having filter media with a hollow center, the filter being generally prone to a degradation or cessation in fluid flow due to air entrapment or air lock within the filter housing cavity, which develops during filtering. A diffuser element is introduced to pierce the entrapped air bubble, the diffuser element being an elongated structure connected to the filter housing top end cap and extending through the entrapped air bubble to the filter media.
Abstract:
A filter assembly comprising a filter head having inlet and outlet ports; a filter bowl attached to the filter head, wherein the filter bowl has a drain hole located at the bottom of the filter bowl for draining fluids; a filter element housed within the filter bowl, the filter element including a barrier of filtration media, a drain layer and at least one support tube; wherein a pressure differential exists across the filter element; a bottom cap that seals fluid within the filter element; a top cap having a non-planar flange portion, wherein the flange portion has a substantially curving, generally s-shaped cross-sectional profile, the non-planar flange sealingly received within the filter head such that the filter head is divided into inlet and outlet partitions; wherein the top cap directs fluid from the inlet port into the filter element, where the fluid flows through the barrier of filtration media and then out of the assembly through the outlet port; and, a float drain component attached to the base of the filter bowl and aligned with the drain hole for controlling a condensed fluid level within the assembly.
Abstract:
A filter element for removing material that is entrained in a gas stream comprises a wall of a filtration medium which defines a hollow space, for a gas stream to flow from the space through the wall. The filter element includes an end cap having an inlet tube extending into the hollow space for a gas stream to be supplied to the space, the inlet tube having a side wall extending between an upstream open end and a downstream open end. There is at least one opening in its side wall. The inlet tube has an upstream band, a middlestream band and a downstream band, the said bands being axially adjacent to one another and non-overlapping. The bands have equal axial lengths of at least 5% of the length of the inlet tube, and are arranged such their planes are perpendicular to the axis of the inlet tube. The proportion of the area of the side wall that is open in the upstream band is smaller than that in the middlestream band, and the proportion of the area of the side wall that is open in the middlestream band is smaller than that in the downstream band.
Abstract:
A liquid filter assembly is provided. The preferred assembly includes a serviceable filter cartridge having a primary filter section and a secondary or bypass filter section. The preferred assembly includes a bypass valve arrangement and a suction filter arrangement. The suction filter arrangement preferably includes a dimensionally biased valve arrangement, preferably one which is devoid of a helical coiled spring, to control flow through the suction filter. A flow/pressure regulation valve, to allow flow from an interior of the assembly to a reservoir if needed, is preferably provided. Preferred serviceable filter cartridges are shown.
