Abstract:
A network facsimile apparatus, including a LAN interface unit, a facsimile interface unit, a memory unit, and a control unit, transmits image information received as e-mail through a computer network to another facsimile apparatus through a public channel, stores an e-mail address of a backup transmission destination with respect to the facsimile transmission in a memory unit for storing e-mail addresses beforehand. When the facsimile transmission is completed, the network facsimile apparatus generates communication control information and prepares an e-mail message that indicates the communication control information therein to transmit the e-mail message to the backup transmission address stored in the memory unit. Accordingly, a user can easily and readily ensure the result of the facsimile transmission by receiving the e-mail from the network facsimile apparatus.
Abstract:
Disclosed are an Internet FAX apparatus having an Internet FAX function capable of transmission with an optimum Internet FAX receiving capability requiring no communication charge, a network system including the apparatus, and a method of controlling the apparatus. The Internet FAX apparatus of this invention inquires a receiving apparatus of its receiving capability by the SMTP protocol before transmitting an image file, and receives information of the receiving capability from the receiving apparatus by the SMTP protocol. The Internet FAX apparatus converts a read image into an image file corresponding to the receiving capability of the receiving apparatus and transmits the image file by the SMTP protocol. The Internet FAX apparatus requests the receiving apparatus to transmit a reception confirmation message when transmitting the image file, and receives the reception confirmation message.
Abstract:
Integration of telecommunication message services and other communication services is achieved by notifying a user of a communication system of successful receipt of a message (e.g., a facsimile message) by sending a confirmation message to the user, e.g., using e-mail, facsimile, voice and/or data communications. The user may be identified by a unique identifier, e.g., a telephone number. The confirmation message may comprise a facsimile message, an attachment which includes the received message or a computer network address of a location where information regarding the received message and/or the message itself may be accessed. For the latter case, the computer network address is preferably a universal resource locator (URL) associated with a web page at which the information and/or received message may be accessed. The information may allow the user to view the message (e.g., as marked up by the intended recipient thereof), and/or it may indicate whether the intended recipient has read, reviewed, down-loaded to a hard copy or other device or otherwise accessed the message.
Abstract:
IFAX (20) reads an original using a scanner in accordance with a transmitting instruction by an operator. Next, IFAX(20) generates a menu screen in an HTML, image data filed by unit of page is registered to a WWW server(22) together with a generated HTML document. IFAX (20) decides the WWW server (22) based on a recipient's mail address. Next, IFAX(20) sends notification of URL of a WWW server (23) to a recipient to which image data should be transmitted. The recipient accesses to the WWW server based on URL, fetches image data by unit of page, and instructs printing selectively.
Abstract:
A communication result notifying method for notifying a result of a process result in a facsimile machine or a printing machine to a notification destination node, comprises the following steps. A step of obtaining an e-mail address of the notification destination node from facsimile data or print, received via a LAN from a requesting node, a step of detecting a result of a process result in the facsimile machine or printing machine, and a step of notifying the detected process result to the e-mail address of the notification destination node.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus is connected to an external apparatus in a connection mode selected from a plurality of connection modes including a first connection mode in which an external apparatus is connected in accordance with a predetermined operation on the communication apparatus and a second connection mode in which an external apparatus is connected in accordance with an operation whose operation amount is smaller than the predetermined operation. The communication apparatus has a plurality of operation modes to select at least one of contents saved in a recording medium. When connecting the external apparatus in the second connection mode, an operation mode in which the contents are selected based on the operation on the external apparatus is selected out of the plurality of operation modes.

Abstract:
A mobile terminal improved in operability concerning fax transmission. A CPU of the mobile terminal sets information indicative of a fax transmission destination, sets reading and transmission information concerning fax transmission and original reading, and sends a request for fax transmission, to an image forming apparatus. When a response notifying capability of fax transmission is received from the apparatus, the CPU causes a message for prompting a user to set an original, to be displayed on a display section. When the original has been set and an instruction for fax transmission from the user is received, the CPU sends an instruction for reading the original and executing fax transmission, together with the transmission destination information, and the reading and transmission information, to the apparatus. The CPU causes a result of fax transmission by the apparatus to be displayed on the display section.
Abstract:
An information processing system is provided that simplifies a logout procedure in an information processing apparatus that has a Web browser that operates together with a Web server that serves as an external apparatus, while maintaining the operational feel of the Web browser. To accomplish this, in the present information processing system, the Web server is notified of a user instruction input via an operation screen of the Web browser provided from the Web server as an event. Here, the Web server analyzes the notified event, and if this event is a logout request, the Web server executes processing for logging out of the Web server, and also notifies the Web browser of the logout request. The Web browser executes processing for logging out of the Web browser upon receipt of the logout request from the Web server.
