Abstract: The invention relates to a valve mechanism with a variable valve opening cross section, in which the valve mechanism is disposed at an admission opening of an internal combustion engine and has a gas exchange valve, which is acted on by the force of a valve spring and is displaceable axially back and forth inside a guide by a valve control unit; the position of the sealing slide relative to the gas exchange valve in the axial direction is continuously variable by means of an adjusting unit. It is provided that a sealing slide (10) is disposed coaxially to the gas exchange valve (12), is acted upon by the force of a coupling spring (24), and is displaceable axially back and forth by the valve control unit. The position of the sealing slide (10) is variable in the axial direction relative to the gas exchange valve (12) by means of an adjusting unit.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of securing the opening area of an intake valve sufficiently and utilizing the thermal energy of exhaust gas effectively. SOLUTION: An intake valve 9 of hollow structure opens and closes the intake valve hole 7 formed so as to face on a combustion chamber 5 in a cylinder head 3, and the exhaust valve hole 22 formed in the intake valve 9 is opened and closed by the exhaust valve 18 contained in the intake valve 9 coaxially. The valve hole 7 facing on the combustion chamber 5 is communicated with an intake port 8 directly, and the exhaust valve hole 22 is communicated with an exhaust port 14 through the exhaust passage 21 formed in the hollow intake valve 9. In this constitution, intake charge efficiency can be improved by securing the opening area of the intake valve 9 largely. Since the exhaust gas having just been discharged from the combustion chamber 5 is not brought into contact with the cylinder head 3 having large thermal capacity, the temperature lowering of the exhaust gas is minimized, leading to the effective utilization of waste heat.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To allow a wide timing range of a vent and to improve engine performance by providing a multi-layer passage automatically sucking and discharging air in two stages and feeding and discharging much air to an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: When a piston descends, a quick pressure drop occurs in a combustion chamber 3, and its acting force is applied to the head of an inner valve. When this acting force becomes larger than the acting force to a holding pin 40A by inner valve control springs 41A, 42A, the inner valve is displaced to an opening position independently of an outer valve and allows the flow of the air-fuel mixture of the combustion chamber 3 from a port through the vent 23A of the outer valve. The operating speed, period and displacement are determined by the level of the load of an inner valve spring, and the slot 24A of the holding pin 40A determines the maximum displacement range of the inner valve. The action of the inner valve is independent of the action of the outer valve, thus this valve mechanism automatically responds to the changed timing, period and displacement, and its useful output range is remarkably expanded.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable afterburing of unburnt components in exhaust gas by forming a throttle passage at an exhaust port, and fitting a throttle valve for throttling the throttle passage, to an exhaust valve, thereby throttling the throttle passage by the throttle valve during the period from the opening starting time to the specified lift of the exhaust valve. CONSTITUTION:A throttle passage 31 provided at one part, particularly on the cylinder 11 side, of an exhaust port 22 is formed by providing the exhaust port 2 with steps. In correspondence with this throttle passage 31, a throttle valve 32 is fitted to the step part of an exhaust valve 24. When the exhaust valve 24 is opened by a cam during the operation of an engine, the throttle passage is throttled by the throttle valve 32 during the opening stroke of the exhaust valve 24. The flow of exhaust gas is therefore temporarily contracted from the opening starting time to the intermediate time of the exhaust valve 24 to perform internal exhaust gas recirculation. The formation quantity of nitrogen oxides is thereby reduced, and also the internal temperature of a cylinder 11 becomes temporarily high to enable the afterburning of unburnt fuel and particulates in exhaust gas.
