    Abstract: PURPOSE: An automated storage system using two multi-crane is provided to exclude bad effects of the total assembly system caused by a broken crane by adopting two multi-crane. CONSTITUTION: An automated storage system consists of: a couple of repository zones(101) arranged parallel to each other, for storing workpieces; two stacker cranes(112,114) for conveying the workpieces; a crane way(103) formed between the repository zones to convey the two stacker cranes; and two crane parking stations set at both ends of the crane way to stand by the cranes. The automated storage system processes a large amount of conveyed workpieces by using the two cranes at the same time. Thereby, the manufacturing costs of the automated storage system are cut down. In addition, the automated storage system has not bad effects by using the two cranes selectively even though one of the two cranes is out of order.
