Abstract: Presently described are electronic telecommunication articles comprising core shell fluoropolymers comprising polymerized units of tetrafluoroethylene and no greater than 1 wt.% of polymerized units of comonomer comprising a functional group. The functional groups are typically selected from nitrile, halogen, sulfur oxide, perfluorinated alkyl ether, and carbonyl. The core shell fluoropolymer typically comprises at least 80, 85, 90, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99 wt.% or greater of polymerized units of tetrafluoroethylene. In some embodiments, the core shell fluoropolymer further comprises up to 20 or 25 wt.% of polymerized units of other comonomers, such as hexafluoropropylene (HFP). Also described are methods of making a coated substrate, coated substrates, and core shell fluoropolymers.

Abstract: Coating compositions are described comprising a fluoropolymer; a fluorinated solvent; and a fluorinated alcohol. In some embodiments, the coating composition further comprises a compound with one or more alkoxy silane groups and/or a compound with one or more amine groups. When such compound is a crosslinking compound, the fluoropolymer typically comprises cure sites. The coating composition may further comprise fillers such as silica, glass fibre, (e.g. crystalline) fluoropolymer particles, and combination thereof. Also described are methods of coating a substrate and articles, such as telecommunication articles.

Abstract: An electronic telecommunication article is described comprising a layer of fluoropolymer composition comprising an uncrosslinked fluoropolymer comprising at least 80, 85, or 90% by weight of polymerized units perfluorinated monomers including one or more unsaturated perfluorinated alkyl ethers. In typical embodiments, the uncrosslinked fluoropolymer comprises at least 10, 20, or 30 wt.% of one or more unsaturated perfluorinated alkyl ethers. The uncrosslinked fluoropolymer may be characterized as amorphous. The uncrosslinked fluoropolymer is soluble in fluorinated solvent. Also described are coated (e.g. copper) substrates, methods, and compositions.

Abstract: Described herein are compositions including a silanol compound that is suitably synthesized, stored, and coated from an aqueous solution. Once coated and cured on a suitable surface, the aqueous silanol compositions result in cleanable and abrasion resistant surfaces, such as dry-erase surfaces that release permanent marker by rubbing with a dry cloth or towel. Also disclosed herein are methods of making the silanol compounds, methods of making cleanable substrates, and cleanable substrates suitably formed using the disclosed methods.

Abstract: A method of making a fluoropolymer coating composition is described comprising blending a latex comprising crystalline submicron fluoropolymer particles with a latex comprising amorphous fluoropolymer particles. The method further comprises coagulating and drying the blended latexes and dissolving the dried blended latexes in a fluorinated solvent. Also described is a fluoropolymer (e.g. coating) composition comprising crystalline submicron fluoropolymer particles dispersed in a solution of fluorinated solvent and amorphous fluoropolymer; the fluoropolymer composition after removal of the solvent; and a substrate comprising a coated surface of the fluoropolymer composition. In each of these embodiments, he amorphous fluoropolymer comprises at least 90 wt-% of polymerized units derived from perfluorinated monomers selected from tetrafluoroethene (TFE) and one or more unsaturated perfluorinated alkyl ethers.
