    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to abrasive articles including conformable coatings, e.g. a hydrophilic coating, and polishing systems therefrom. The present disclosure provides an abrasive article including a ceramic body having an abrading surface and an opposed second surface, wherein the abrading surface of the ceramic body includes a plurality of engineered features each having a base and a distal end opposite the base and the ceramic body has a Mohs hardness of at least 7.5; a conformable metal oxide coating adjacent to and conforming to the plurality of engineered features, wherein the conformable metal oxide coating includes a first surface; and a conformable polar organic-metallic coating in contact with the first surface of the conformable metal oxide coating, wherein the conformable polar organic-metallic coating includes a chemical compound having at least one metal and an organic moiety having at least one polar functional group.

    Abstract: Described herein are compositions including a silanol compound that is suitably synthesized, stored, and coated from an aqueous solution. Once coated and cured on a suitable surface, the aqueous silanol compositions result in cleanable and abrasion resistant surfaces, such as dry-erase surfaces that release permanent marker by rubbing with a dry cloth or towel. Also disclosed herein are methods of making the silanol compounds, methods of making cleanable substrates, and cleanable substrates suitably formed using the disclosed methods.

    Abstract: Dry erase articles are described comprising a writable surface layer comprising a cured hardcoat composition comprising the reaction product of certain low surface energy compound(s). In one embodiment, the compound(s) comprise a C18-C36 hydrocarbon group and an ethylenically unsaturated group.     Abstract: Articles are described comprising a surface layer comprising at least one long hydrocarbon chain silane compound (C8- C36) bonded to a siliceous layer such as diamond-like glass. In an embodiment, the siliceous layer has a porosity of no greater than 10% and a thickness no greater than 1 micron. In another embodiment, the siliceous layer comprises 10- 50 atomic percent carbon and the article further comprises an organic polymeric base member or a hardcoat layer. Also described are coating compositions comprising at least one C8-C17 hydrocarbon silane compound and at least one C18-C36 hydrosilane compound.
