    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high quality org. crystal by a melting and crystallizing method without requiring a long time even in case of a substance having a low crystallizing speed, by carrying out crystallization under the influence of sound waves with a device having a heating furnace part and a sound wave generating part. CONSTITUTION:A melting and crystallizing device for the Bridgman method having a heating furnace part 1 and a sound wave generating pat 2 is prepd. An org. compd. 21 is put in the device, melted by heating and cooled. At this time, sound waves are generated from the part 2 and a crystal or a crystal nucleus is obtd. under the influence of the sound waves.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a compound having great optically nonlinear characteristics and high threshold value of rupture against laser and being practically useful for crystallization and transformation to thin film by introducing a donative substituent and an acceptive substituent into phi1 and phi2 in a nonlinear optical compd. expressed by phi1-CR=N-phi2 contg. a heteroaromatic ring or a condensed ring. CONSTITUTION:A nonlinear optical compd. expressed by the formula: X-phi1-CR =N-phi2-Y is used as an aimed compd. In the formula, each phi1 and phi2 is an aromatic or a heteroaromatic ring, at least one of them is an aromatic ring except benzene ring, or a heteroaromatic ring. One of X or Y is a donative substituent, and another is an acceptive substituent. R is H or a 1-5C substituent. Thus, an org. nonlinear compd. having great optical nonlinearity and high threshold value of rupture against laser and being transformable to crystal or thin film is provided. The compd. is useful practically.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical material having large optical nonlinearity of molecules and a small dipole moment by using an org. nonlinear optical compd. represented by a prescribed general formula. CONSTITUTION:An org. nonlinear optical compd. represented by general formula I is used. Since the central symmetry of the crystal depends largely on dipole- dipole interaction between molecules, the symmetry is very effectively destroyed by reducing the dipole moment of the molecules. In case of N-(4- pyridinylmethylene)-benzenamine having a long pi-electron conjugated system, an alkyl group is used at the N-position of the pyridine ring to convert the compd. into an acceptor and a donor type substituent is introduced into the benzene ring to intensify the charge-transfer interaction, so the fluctuation of pi-electrons due to the perturbation of a photoelectric field, that is, the optical nonlinearity of the molecules is increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a compd. having large optical nonlinearity by introducing an acceptor type substituent to the 2nd position of a pyridine ring. CONSTITUTION:The resonance effect that a conjugation system in such 6pi system as the pyridine ring provides is large. The distortion generates the pielectron cloud of the excitation state arising not from the base state but from the acceptor level and generates a large deviation in the electric charge distribution when nitrogen atoms exist in the ortho position of the acceptor type substituent. The fluctuation of the pi electrons by the perturbation of the optical electric field possessed by laser light and the optical nonlinearity possessed by the compd. increase if the dipolemoment of the excitation state increases in the above-mentioned manner. The compd. having the acceptor in the 2nd position of the pyridine ring has eventually the excellent optical nonlinearity.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a condenser excellent in electric characteristics such as voltage resistance, humidity resistance or the like, having constant capacity over a wide temperature region and enhanced in reliability, and a biaxially oriented laminated film capable of easily manufacturing the condenser. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented laminated film is obtained by laminating a surface layer (A-layer) comprising a polyphenylene sulfide film on at least the single surface of a center layer (B-layer) comprising a polyester film comprising a polymer with a single extrapolation glass transition temperature (Tg) containing a polyester and a polyimide and having an extrapolation glass transition start temperature of 90-140 deg.C.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality polyester film by which a magnetic recording medium showing satisfactory electromagnetic transducing characteristics and nearly free from track deviation and drop out can be manufactured especially when the polyester film is used as a base film for the magnetic recording medium by forming minute protrusions on the surface of the polyester film to enhance the quality such as running performance and scraping resistance. SOLUTION: In the laminated polyester film for the magnetic recording medium, formed by laminating a lamination layer part (layer B) on at least one surface of a base layer part (layer A) consisting of a polyester and a polyimide and having two or more film layers, the surface on the layer B side has 3-15 nm surface roughness, the surface opposite to the layer B has a surface roughness of 0.5-10 nm, the back ad front film surfaces have a difference of the surface roughness of 1-7 nm and the layer B has a coarse protrusion number H1 of 0-100 pieces/100 cm and the layer opposite to the layer B has a coarse protrusion number H2 of 0-10 pieces/100 cm .
