SOLUTION: The vacuum arc evaporation apparatus 50 is provided with: a vacuum arc evaporation source 10 which heats a cathode 12 with vacuum arc discharge to evaporate a cathode material 16 from its front 14; and a pulse arc power source 36 which applies a pulse arc voltage V A thereto.
