Systems and methods for dynamically defending a site from lightning strikes are provided. The systems and methods involve dynamically altering electrostatic fields above the site and/or dynamically intervening in lightning discharges processes in the vicinity of the site.
Abstract:
An apparatus for identifying active access, by a viewer, of a source containing an advertisement includes a video capture device for recording user interaction in an area and a video processor electrically coupled to the video capture device. The video processor is configured to analyze the video obtained by the video capture device. The video process analysis includes identification of active access, by the viewer, of the source containing the advertisement. The source is electrically decoupled from the video capture device.
Abstract:
An electrical device includes a winding, a primary cooling system, a secondary cooling system, and an actuator. The winding includes an interior portion and an exterior surface. The primary cooling system cools the exterior surface of the winding. The secondary cooling system cools the interior portion of the winding. The actuator is configured to actuate the secondary cooling system in response to a sensed condition of the electrical device or a predicted condition of the electrical device.
Abstract:
A property of an insurance policy may be determined, at least in part, upon characteristics of a vehicle autonomous drive mode selection system. The characteristics may pertain to any capability, configuration, and/or operating state of the autonomous drive mode selection system (and/or vehicle). For example, a property of the insurance policy may be based upon whether the autonomous drive mode selection system is enabled or disabled. In some embodiments, the property of the insurance policy may be based upon which of one or more autonomous driving modes is selected via an autonomous drive mode selection system. The property of the insurance policy may be dynamic, and may be updated in response to changes to the autonomous drive mode selection system.
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing harmonic noise from a power transmission line transmitting electricity at a primary frequency includes a filter and a controller coupled to the sensor and to an actuator-generator. The filter separates electricity at a harmonic of a primary frequency from the electrical signal transmitted by the power transmission line. The controller is configured to modulate consumption of electricity from the power transmission line. The consumption is controlled by electrical actuation of the actuator-generator, such that the electrical actuation of the actuator-generator causes consumption of electricity from the power transmission line at a harmonic of the primary frequency. The actuator-generator is coupled to an elastically deformable component, such that electrical actuation of the actuator-generator generates tension in the elastically deformable component.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to methods, devices, and computer systems thereof for automated data collection from a subject. In certain embodiments, one or more characteristics of a subject are sensed, and the subject is given a queue status indicator based on a comparison of the subject's one or more sensed characteristics with corresponding sensed characteristics from other subjects. In one embodiment, the subject is a healthcare worker and the system, methods, and devices are utilized to evaluate the overall health of the worker as part of the check-in process for work.
