Abstract: PURPOSE: A hood latch apparatus having a pedestrian protection function is provided to reduce the shock added to a pedestrian because a hood is easily deformed by being rotated to the direction opposite to the direction that a safety hook is opened although a head of a pedestrian is bumped to a safety hook portion. CONSTITUTION: A hood latch apparatus having a pedestrian protection function is composed of a safety hook(23), a latch base(20), and a plate(24). The safety hook is rotated to the direction opposite to the direction that a safety hook is opened in a collision. The safety hook makes a plate groove(24a) and a latch base groove(20a) overlapped by horizontally moving the plate. A striker is moved downwardly as the extra depth of the latch base groove.
