Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of the general formula I in which K is a radical of the formula where R is an acyl radical, R and R independently of one another are hydrogen or alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, each of which is optionally interrupted by oxygen and optionally substituted, R is methyl, phenyl, or carboxylic ester, R is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or optionally substituted phenyl, R is hydrogen, methyl or phenyl, R is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, propyl or phenyl, each of which is substituted by hydroxyl or cyano, R is hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, R is cyano or carbamoyl, R is optionally substituted phenyl, X is hydrogen, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy or chlorine, Y is optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl and Z is hydroxyl or amino. The compounds according to the invention are particularly suitable for the dyeing of polyesters.

Abstract: Dyestuff used for dyeing paper is an azobenzothiazole sulphonic acid cpd. of formula (I) (in which X is H, Cl, Br or SO3H; K is a gp. of formulae (II) or (III); Y is H, MeO or EtO; Z is H or SO3H; R is H or a (substd.)(cyclo)alkyl or aryl gp.). Pref. (I) has formula (IA) (in which R1 is phenyl or tolyl). (I) are suitable for dyeing paper pulps, esp. bleached cellulose, in the presence of Al salts. They give unusually high brilliance and very good fastness to light. In an example, 50 g mixt. of 60 pts. wood pulp and 40 pts. sulphite cellulose (35 deg. SR) were mixed with 2 l drinking water (10 deg. dH), 25 g 2% aq. (IA) soln. (R1 is tolyl), resin size dispersion (0.5 g resin) and 1.5 g alum and stirred for 15 mins. After dilution to 0.5% with acidified water, the suspension was made into sheets of paper (80 g/m2) and dried at 100 deg.C. An intensive greenish blue paper with good water fastness and very good light-fastness was obtd. The waste liquor was only slightly coloured.
