Abstract: A molded article of a syndiotactic polypropylene having excellent transparency in which a melting point attributed to the polypropylene having the syndiotactic structure measured at a heating rate of 10 DEG C/minute by differential scanning thermal analysis is represented by a substantially single peak, the aforesaid molded article being prepared by heating, melting and then hot-molding a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and a small amount of another olefin, which have a substantially syndiotactic structure, or a mixture of the homopolymer or the copolymer and a small amount of a polypropylene having a substantially isotactic structure, followed by quenching, or, after these steps, additionally subjecting the above molded article to a heat treatment at a temperature of less than its melting point. A method for preparing the above molded article is also disclosed here.

Abstract: A substantially syndiotactic propylene copolymer comprising propylene and at least one C6 to C25 cyclic diolefin or C6 to C25 alkadiene having at least one terminal double bond, wherein the peak intensity observed at about 20.2 ppm in the C-NMR spectrum measured in solution in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene with tetramethylsilane as the internal reference is at least 0.5 of all the peak intensities assignable to the propylene methyl group, the content of the cyclic diolefin or alkadiene is 0.01 to 20 mole %, and the limiting viscosity [ eta ] as measured at 135 DEG C in tetralin is 0.1 to 10 dl/g. This copolymer may further contain an alpha -olefin other than propylene, particularly ethylene.

Abstract: A syndiotactic graft copolymer is here disclosed in which a radical polymerizable unsaturated compound is grafted on a propylene homopolymer or copolymer, and this graft copolymer is obtained by heating a homopolymer having a substantially syndiotactic structure of propylene or a copolymer having a substantlally syndiotactic structure of propylene and another .alpha.-olefin and a radical polymerizable unsaturated compound such as an unsaturated carboxylic acid or an unsaturated silane in the presence of a radical initiator up to the decomposition temperature or more of the radical initiator. This kind of graft copolymer can be used as a composition for adhesion. The graft copolymer in which the radical polymerizable unsaturated compound is a hydrolyzable unsaturated silane can be converted into a crosslinked polymer by heating in the presence of water, and it can also be converted into a water-crosslinkable resin composition by adding various additive thereto.
