Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for low overhead paging in a wireless communications network are described herein. In one aspect, a wireless communications device comprises a processor and a transmitter. The processor is configured to compress a bitmap of a paging message to obtain a compressed paging message. The bitmap is associated with a plurality of receiver identifiers, and each of the plurality of receiver identifiers associated with at least one receiver of a set of receivers. The compressed bitmap comprises a block bitmap and a plurality of sub-block bitmaps. Each bit of the block bitmap comprises a logical OR of a subset of the bitmap, and each sub-block bitmap corresponds to a bit of the block bitmap. The transmitter is electronically coupled with the processor and configured to transmit the compressed paging message to at least one receiver.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a receiver of a relay is configured to receive a relay initiator frame and a data frame. A transmitter of the relay is configured to transmit an amplified version of the data frame at a same or substantially same time as a time that the data frame is received if the relay initiator frame is received prior to the data frame.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for multicast communications including access identifiers are described herein. In some aspects, a fixed mapping from a multicast device identifier (e.g., multicast MAC address, multicast IP address) to a multicast access identifier is provided. In some aspects, a device may transmit a request to join a multicast group identified by a multicast access identifier. In some aspects, a device may receive an invitation to join a multicast group identified by a multicast access identifier.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for compressing block acknowledgment (ACK) frames/packets are described herein. In some aspects, a method of compressing a block acknowledgment frame includes generating an offset value and a portion of a bitmap, the offset value indicating a location where the portion of the bitmap is located in the bitmap. The method further includes transmitting the offset value and the portion of the bitmap in a compressed block acknowledgment frame.
Abstract:
A particular method includes receiving, at an access point, one or more request messages from one or more relay nodes, each of the one or more request messages is a probe request message or an association request message related to a station. The method includes selecting a communication path between the access point and the station based on the one or more request messages and sending a response message indicating the selected communication path.
Abstract:
A method includes transmitting a packet from a first wireless device to a second wireless device, where data within the packet is encoded and a signal representing the packet is modulated in accordance with a modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The method also includes, responsive to receiving an acknowledgement packet that includes a MCS change indicator from the second wireless device via a wireless local area network (WLAN) in response to transmitting the packet, maintaining the MCS when the MCS change indicator has a first value and incrementing the MCS when the MCS has a second value.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for transmitting and receiving discovery and paging messages are described herein. In one aspect, an apparatus operable in a wireless communication system includes a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter transmits a discovery packet during a first discovery interval of a plurality of discovery intervals. The discovery packet advertises a service provided in a wireless communications network, and the plurality of discovery intervals include recurring time intervals when a plurality of devices are configured to transmit and receive discovery packets. The receiver receives a paging packet from a first device during a first paging interval of a plurality of paging intervals. The paging packet indicates interest in the service, and the plurality of paging intervals include recurring time intervals when the plurality of devices are configured to transmit and receive paging packets. The plurality of paging intervals do not overlap the plurality of discovery intervals.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system includes assigning a first identifier at a first access point, the first identifier for establishing a link with the first access point. The method includes receiving from a device an access request message to establish the link, the access request message including a second identifier associated with a plurality of access points configured to provide the link, the plurality of access points including the first access point, the second identifier including a sequence of bits having a bit length, wherein the sequence of bits is based on the first identifier, and wherein the bit length of the sequence of bits is less than the first number of bits. The further includes transmitting an access response message establishing the link with the device and including the first identifier.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. Various processes for reducing the initial link set up time are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes providing a network service configured to communicate via a plurality of channels. The method further includes determining a characteristic of the network service comprising a load value for each of the plurality of channels. The method further includes transmitting an identifier of the characteristic of the network service for obtaining the network service in the wireless communication system.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. Various processes for reducing the initial link setup time are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes queuing for transmission, at a first device, a first message for requesting information to establish a link with an access point, the first message including a network identifier for the access point. The method further includes, before transmission of the message, receiving a second message including the information. The method further includes removing the message from the queue when the second message includes the information.
