Abstract:
In a filtration equipment with a filtrate recovery process, in order to achieve reduction in recovery time of suspension in a tank and allow sludge such as filtration aid to be exfoliated readily from filtration elements and discharged, pressurized water is introduced into the tank which includes tubular filtration elements and a plate element provided at upper and lower locations thereof to recover the suspension as filtrate, and pressurized gas such as air or carbon dioxide is introduced into the tank from the suspension side so that water remaining on the suspension side is discharged from the tank by the pressurized gas, whereafter sludge is exfoliated from the filtration elements and then discharged to the outside of the tank.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion and contraction type filter without causing a fault and formed so as to allow the filter itself to be freely bent and folded. SOLUTION: The expansion and contraction type filter having an expandable and contractible bag-shaped filter cloth, and a flow path material placed in the filter cloth and collecting filtrate filtered by the filter cloth to discharge is characterized in that both the filter cloth and the flow path material are composed of a flexible material respectively. Abstract:
A multiple cartridge filter assembly is provided with a removable filter array to facilitate the rapid replacement of an entire array having spent cartridges with another identical array having fresh cartridges, after which the spent cartridges of the removed array may be replaced. The removable filter array includes a separation plate from which the filter cartridges hang suspended in sealing engagement therewith and a dual position support platform connected to the separation plate and located beneath the lower blind ends of the cartridges. The support platform maintains the cartridges sealingly engaged with the separation plate when the removable array is in its working condition but automatically drops down relative to the separation plate when the array is removed to accommodate the replacement of the cartridges. In the preferred practice of the invention the movement of the support platform relative to the separation plate is limited to that which permits removal of the filter cartridges at an angle but not vertically.
Abstract:
A filter system for filtering solids includes a filtration tank for receiving a slurry containing the solids to be filtered. A filter assembly including a plurality of filter cells each having a filter medium at an exterior and a cavity at an interior is lowered into the filtration tank using a transport device carrying the filter assembly. A vacuum transfer system is connected to the filter assembly so as to transfer a vacuum to an interior of the filter cells. The vacuum transfer system is operable to perform the filtering and to retain the filtered solids while the transport device moves the filter assembly relative to the filtration tank.
Abstract:
A water filter with an automatic backwash that utilizes an artificially created back pressure to reduce the overall height of the water filter, and a water filter with a typical overall height of less than 3.5 meters for membrane filters and less than 5 meters for media filters, that incorporates a means of automatically creating, in a repeatable fashion, a backwash that removes trapped suspended solids from an upstream side of the filter.
Abstract:
An extended area filter is provided. The extended area filter has sheets of a filter media configured for increased filter media surface area. A plurality of filter media tubes are position in a concentric arrangement about a longitudinal axis of the filter, defining annular inlet volumes and annular outlet volumes, the annular inlet volumes receiving an unfiltered fluid, and the outlet volumes receiving a filtrate passed through the tubes of filter media. Internal support elements suitable for placement within the outlet volumes are also provided. A filter apparatus configured for filtering a contaminated fluid and employing extended area filters of the invention is also provided.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A filtration tank with a central vertical axis comprises: a first chamber, a second chamber and at least one filter element. The first chamber has a first inlet through which fluid to be filtered enters the tank and is designed so as to provide a swirling flow of the fluid to the second chamber. The second chamber has a second inlet, in fluid communication with the first chamber, and an outlet through which filtered fluid exits the tank, the outlet being preferably disposed lower than the second inlet. The filter element may be disposed in the second chamber and may have a portion capable of free undulation due to movement of the fluid in which it is disposed caused at least in part by the swirling of fluid entering the second chamber. The swirling may be obtained by centrifugal forces induced within the tank at least in a portion of a fluid flow path preceding the second inlet. The tank may be used in a filtration system including a fixed head pressure column and a pipe system for providing fluid to the tank and the column. The fixed head pressure column has a top portion open to the atmosphere, and is mounted on and in fluid communication with the pipe system, for eliminating the suction of dirt into the pipe system.
