Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-alloy article that is capable of maintaining its mechanical integrity over a range of conditions ranging from higher stress/lower temperature to higher temperature/lower stress.SOLUTION: The article (10) includes a first section (12) extending from an outer periphery (14) to a predetermined surface (16) located inward from the outer periphery (14). The first section (12) comprises a nanostructured ferritic alloy. The article (10) includes a second section (18) extending from an inner periphery (20) to the predetermined surface (16) located outward from the inner periphery (20). The second section (18) comprises at least one other alloy different from the nanostructured ferritic alloy.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable scroll compressor. SOLUTION: A fixed scroll part having a fixed spiral lap on a fixed end plate and a turn scroll part having a turn spiral lap on a turn end plate are mutually engaged to form a compression chamber. The fixed scroll part is formed by an iron metallic material, and the turn scroll part is formed by aluminum metallic material. Surface treatment is applied in at least a rear surface part of the end plate of the turn scroll part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
The invention relates to a piston (10) for an internal combustion engine made of an iron-based material, comprising a piston head (11) and a piston skirt (12), said piston head (11) comprising a piston base (13), a peripheral top land (15) and a peripheral annular part (16) comprising annular grooves (17a, 17b, 17c). According to the invention, at least one annular groove (17a, 17b) comprises at least one insert (24, 27) made of an zinc-based material.
Abstract:
An adjustment ring for turbocharger applications, particularly in diesel engines, is described, which consists of an iron-based alloy with an austenitic basic structure with dendritic carbide precipitations.
Abstract:
A dry vacuum pump comprises a stator component and at least one rotor component. To improve the tolerance of the pump to corrosive gases passing through the pump, the stator component and/or said at least one rotor component are formed from silicon-molybdenum (SiMo) ductile iron.
Abstract:
A composite sliding layer is formed on a wear surface, such as on piston ring and/or cylinder bore, from a powder mixture containing iron oxide and iron titanate. The resulting coating is hard and durable and reduces losses due to friction and wear.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a built-up piston (1) with an upper part (2) made of an iron material and a lower part (3) made of an aluminium alloy. The object of the invention is to increase the loading capacity of the bosses. To that end, the lower part (3) comprises cast-iron or steel gudgeon pin bosses (4) which are screwed at least to the lower part (3).
Abstract:
An economical resistant bearing surface reinforcement is to be provided for a reciprocating piston of an internal combustion engine, especially one using an aluminium alloy as the basic material, especially one such designed for an engine with cylinder running surface of alluminium alloy. To this end, the prior art galvanically applied steel, nickel or chromium coatings are to be replaced by a synthetic-resin-bonded graphite coating with incorporated metal particles. The metal particles may be nickel, steel, bronze, chromium, silver or alloys thereof. The running layer may also be a thin, adhesively secured metal foil. As a further alternative, the bearing layer may also be formed by metal plates secured to the piston body mechanically or by casting.
