Independent claims are also included for: (a) substituted CMC obtained by this process; (b) polymer mixtures containing unfunctionalized CMC and functionalized CMC as described above.

The shaped materials are preferably mixtures of polycarbonate, a graft polymer of stryrol and acrylonitrile on a butyl acrylate rubber (ASA) with a bimodal particle size distribution and a styrol-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN).
