Abstract:
This invention relates to gas range burners having a sealed top and an integrated secondary air supply. Such structures of this type, generally, supply secondary air to the flame without compromising the cleanability of the burner.
Abstract:
An interactive surgery planning and display system mixes live video of external surfaces of the patient with interactive computer generated models of internal anatomy obtained from medical diagnostic imaging data of the patient. The computer images and the live video are coordinated and displayed to a surgeon in real-time during surgery allowing the surgeon to view internal and external structures and the relation between them simultaneously, and adjust his surgery accordingly. In an alternative embodiment, a normal anatomical model is also displayed as a guide in reconstructive surgery. Another embodiment employs three-dimensional viewing.
Abstract:
Surgery is performed with a pulsed heat-producing means that selectively heats a region in a specific tissue within a patient destroying the tissue. The pulsed heat-producting means may be a coherent optical source that is guided by laser fiber to the tissue to be destroyed. In another embodiment, the pulsed heat-producing means is a focussed ultrasound transducer which concentrates ultrasonic energy at a focal point within the specific tissue. A magnetic resonance imaging system employing a real-time temperature-sensitive pulse sequence monitors the heated region of the tissue to provide temperature profiles allowing an operator to alter the position and size of the heated region.
Abstract:
The releasability of diamond coatings produced by chemical vapor deposition is improved by employing as a substrate an alloy of a hydride-forming metal, preferably niobium, said alloy having a hardness on the Rockwell B scale of at least about 50. Alloys of niobium and titanium or zirconium, particularly niobium-titanium alloys comprising about 40-50 % (by weight) titanium, are preferred.
Abstract:
A method is provided for preparing [ F]2-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose with an anion exchange resin by effecting an exchange reaction between an aqueous solution of [ F]fluoride containing an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate, such as sodium bicarbonate, and an anion, such as bicarbonate or carbonate, on the anion exchange resin followed by the displacement reaction with 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-0-trifluoromethanesulfonyl- beta -D-mannopyranose to form the resulting 2-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose tetraacetate. Improved yields of the [ F]2-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose are obtained when the alkali bicarbonate or carbonate is used in the target water.
Abstract:
A drive train for an electric vehicle includes a traction battery, a power drive circuit, a main contactor for connecting and disconnecting the traction battery and the power drive circuit, a voltage detector across contacts of the main contactor, and a controller for controlling the main contactor to prevent movement of its contacts to the closed position when the voltage across the contacts exceeds a predetermined threshold, to thereby protect the contacts of the contactor. The power drive circuit includes an electric traction motor and a DC-to-AC inverter with a capacitive input filter. The controller also inhibits the power drive circuit from driving the motor and thereby discharging the input capacitor if the contacts are inadvertently opened during motoring. A precharging contactor is controlled to charge the input filter capacitor prior to closing the main contactor to further protect the contacts of the main contactor.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic imaging system for displaying color flow images includes a receiver which demodulates ultrasonic echo signals received by a transducer array and dynamically focuses the baseband echo signals. A color flow processor includes a time domain adaptive wall filter which automatically adjusts to changes in frequency and bandwidth of the wall signal components in the focused baseband echo signals. The mean frequency of the resulting filtered baseband echo signals is used to indicate velocity of flowing reflectors and to control color in the displayed image.
Abstract:
Capped polyphenylene ethers are prepared by reaction of a polyphenylene ether with epoxy materials in methods which result in low levels of alkali metal ions and ammonium ions in the resulting product. Such low alkali metal ion and ammonium ion capped polyphenylene ethers are particularly useful in forming high impact blends with polyesters and polyamides, which find utility as molding compositions.
Abstract:
A local coil assembly includes an RF coil disposed inside a cylindrical form and a pair of z-axis gradient coils wound around the outside of the cylindrical form. First and second pairs of gradient coils are mounted on opposite sides and extend radially outward from the cylindrical form. These pairs of gradient coils produce a gradient field perpendicular to the z-axis with minimal effect on the operation of the RF coil.
Abstract:
A digital compressed video signal transmission system includes a transport processor for segmenting (105, 115) compressed data into transport cells for transmission. Particular portions of the compressed data are formatted (110, 120, 125) into further transport cells, which further transport cells are interspersed with normally occurring transport cells. The further transport cells include redundant video signal data which may be utilized to resynchronize a compressed video signal decoder after loss or corruption of transmitted data.
