Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate establishing a fo rward link acknowledgement channel and transmitting acknowledgment signals t hereupon. In particular, the signals can be spread within contiguous channel clusters in a tile where the signals in the cluster are mutually orthogonal to one another. Additionally, the signals can be multiplexed over a plurali ty of frequency regions. In this regard, the acknowledgment signals are dive rse with respect to frequency and interference; moreover, the signals can be received and decoded even where one of the channels experiences high interf erence. Furthermore, the acknowledgement signals can also communicate a chan nel deassignment value, which allows devices to utilize persistent channels in communicating data to one another

Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided to facilitate generating and process ing acquisition pilots in wireless communications. Acquisition pilots that c onvey timing and frequency synchronization information, wireless system acqu isition and system determination information are modulated with pseudorandom sequences. The R bits of information carried by the acquisition pilot that conveys system determination information are augmented with T bits that conv ey a counter index associated with the system timing of superframes transmit ted from an access point. The processing overhead resulting from the additio n of the T bits is offset by the advantages afforded to a wireless communica tion. Salient advantages include: (i) processing gain at a receiver for comm unication in a specific sector during asynchronous operation, (ii) packet bo undary determination through the counter field values, and (iii) initializat ion of various pseudorandom registers employed for communication.

Power limit indications can be analyzed in scheduling mobile devices. Mobile devices with power limits can be scheduled on inner subbands. Other mobile devices can employ remaining portions of an allocated spectrum. Further, mob ile devices can evaluate and establish a power amplifier backoff based upon the subband scheduling.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that provide techniques for gener ating and utilizing reverse link feedback for interference management in a w ireless communication system. Other Sector Interference (OSI) indicators are transmitted from an interfering access point to an access terminal. At the access terminal, an appropriate delta value(s) is combined with the received OSI indicators. The combined information is transmitted to the access point in a feedback so the serving sector access point can analyze the amount of interference. Based on the provided feedback from the terminal, the serving sector access point can assign resources for use by the terminal in communic ation with the serving sector.

Abstract: In a communication system wherein a CDMA segment at each access point con sists of multiple sub-segments a three frame transmission time interval (TTI ) with eight retransmissions is utilized for data transmission. The access p oint not only specifies the interlaces to be utilized for data transmission it also assigns packet start interlaces for particular access terminals. An auxiliary pilot channel R-AuxPICH is transmitted by an access terminal along with CDMA data on reverse link. The ratio of R-AuxPICH to R-PICH is varied based on ACK/NACK feedback. A reverse link activity bit (RAB) which can be u sed as an emergency load-control mechanism for non-QoS flows is also disclos ed.

Abstract: A signaling channel that punctures traffic channels is used to send signaling, e.g., acknowledgments (ACKs). To send signaling, resources for the signaling channel are determined, e.g., based on a frequency hopping pattern. Signaling is spread with a spreading code (e.g., a Walsh code) to generate spread signaling, which is mapped to the resources for the signaling channel. Each resource may be partitioned into multiple clusters. A signaling message may be mapped to different clusters to achieve diversity. Traffic data may also be mapped to other resources for a traffic channel assigned for use. Traffic data mapped to the other resources for the signaling channel is punctured. The mapped signaling and traffic data are further processed (e.g., for OFDM or SC-FDMA) and transmitted.
