Abstract:
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for increasing system capacity in a multi-access wireless communication system. SOLUTION: Spatial dimensions are utilized to distinguish between multiple signals utilizing the same channel and thereby increasing system capacity. Signals may be separated by applying beamforming weights based upon the spatial signature of a pair of a user device 104 and a base station 102. Grouping spatially orthogonal or disparate user devices on the same channel facilitates separation of signals and maximization of user device throughput performance. User devices may be reassigned to groups periodically or based upon changes in the spatial relationships between the user devices and the base station. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, apparatus and method for supporting mobile stations that are not capable of demodulating the entire bandwidth when an arranged bandwidth is large, or that can be made to demodulate less than the entire bandwidth.SOLUTION: The method includes the processes of: transmitting a first access request using a first carrier which is one of a plurality of carriers available for communications of access terminals; receiving a first assignment for communication using the first carrier in a first access terminal; and receiving a second assignment for communication using either the first carrier or at least one second carrier, among the plurality of carriers, at the first access terminal on the basis of performances of the access terminals.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and devices for providing flexible channel information feedback. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a memory and a processor, which is configured to select a type of channel information feedback based on a reporting format of a wireless communication device, and the processor is configured to select the type based on instructions corresponding to the reporting format. The type includes an SDMA CQI and an appropriate segment CQI and further includes an MCW, SCW and SISO CQIs. In some cases, this may be according to reporting types assigned by one or more sectors, with different reporting types for each sector. In other cases, a reporting mode is used to determine the reporting types to be utilized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for flexible bandwidth allocation that reduces interference.SOLUTION: A spectrum may have a first number of segments, each segment having a second number of clusters associated with a certain sector/cell. One aspect comprises the acts of fixedly assigning a first group of clusters to a first group of users such that the first group of users stay fixed to the assigned clusters, and assigning a second group of clusters to a second group of users such that the second group of users hop within the assigned clusters.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize use of system resources through supplemental assignments for dynamically decrementing resource assignments to mobile devices in a wireless network environment.SOLUTION: A method comprises: transmitting initial resource assignment(s) to at least one mobile device (1002); determining whether the at least one mobile device requires additional resources or requires resource de-allocation (1004); and, if the resource de-allocation is required, generating a supplemental assignment that de-assigns the resources and transmitting the generated supplemental assignment to the at least one mobile device (1006). Supplemental assignments can be generated based on information related to mobile device need and resource availability. Moreover, resource assignments may be retained for a mobile device.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing the communication of a frame having two or more modulation schemes in a single system. SOLUTION: Each part of the communication frames having first and second parts has a plurality of subcarriers, and includes a step of modulating at least one subcarrier in the first part by using a first modulation scheme and a step of modulating one or more subcarriers in the second part by using a second modulation scheme different form the first modulation scheme. First type information is transmitted on at least one of the subcarriers in the first part by using the first modulation scheme. Second type information different from the first type information is transmitted on at least one or more of the subcarriers in the second part by using the second modulation scheme. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for transmitting an indicator of channel quality while minimizing use of a broadcast channel. SOLUTION: A metric of forward link geometry of observed transmission signals is determined. An indicator of channel quality value is determined as a function of the observed transmission signals. An access sequence is selected randomly from one group of a plurality of groups of access sequences, wherein each of the plurality of groups of access sequences corresponds to a different range of channel quality value. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods for beamforming in multi-input multi-output communication systems. SOLUTION: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed that utilize information from transmission paths less than all transmission paths from a transmitter to form beamforming weights for transmission. In addition, methods and apparatuses are disclosed that utilize channel information, such as CQI, eigenbeam weights, and/or channel estimates, to form beamforming weights. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
