Abstract: Techniques to implement MBMS services in a wireless communication system. In one aspect, a method is provided for processing data for transmission to a plurality of terminals. Frames of information bits (which may have variable rates) are provided to a buffer implementing a matrix. The matrix is padded with padding bits based on a particular padding scheme to support variable frame rates. The frames are then coded based on a particular block code to provide parity bits. The frame of information bits and the parity bits are then transmitted to the terminals. In another aspect, a method is provided for controlling the transmit power of a data transmission to a plurality of terminals. In accordance with the method, TPC streams are received from the terminals and processed to obtain a stream of joint power control commands used to adjust the transmit power of the data transmission.

Abstract: A method and system that enables multiplexing a plurality of data streams onto one data stream based on data stream priorities, available transport format combinations (TFCs), and transmission time interval (TTI) constraints of transport frames within the TFCs is disclosed. A subscriber unit (12) has applications that produce separate data streams. Example applications include voice (32), signalling (34), E-mail (36) and web applications (38). The data streams are combined by a multiplexer module (48) into one data stream called the transport stream (50). The transport stream (50) is sent over the reverse link to base station transceivers (BTS) (14). The multiplexer module (48) multiplexes the data streams onto a single stream according to available TFCs, TTI constraints, data stream priorities, and current maximum transmitter power constraints.

This variable error is determined and used in determining the physical location of the remote station.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for efficiently transmitting location assistance information to a mobile communication device over a control channel with a minimal impact on the capacity of the control channel. A position location server provides a difference between satellite locations which have been computed using Almanac data and then Ephemeris data. Sending only the difference between the locations and clock corrections computed using the two different data types, the total amount of information to be transmitted to a mobile communication device is significantly reduced. Furthermore, by providing rate of change information, the method and apparatus allows the location assistance information to remain valid for a relatively long time after it is has been received by the mobile communication device.

Abstract: Various embodiments are provided for determining a set of acceptable transport format combinations for transmission on a current time frame. A set of acceptable modified rate power adjustment values is determined based on a maximum power level, an accumulated power commands and an initial power control command. A set of acceptable channel gain factors is determined based on the set of acceptable modified rate power adjustments values, and the set of acceptable transport format combinations is determined based on the set of acceptable channel gain factors. A possible set of modified rate power adjustment values is associated to a set of channel gain factors for determining the set of acceptable channel gain factors based on various design of a transmitter chain used for transmission of data from the mobile station.
