    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for polyester which is excellent in reactivity in esterification, transesterification, and polycondensation in comparison with conventionally used polytrimethylene terephthalate, has a good color tone, and has a low dipropylene glycol content, a low terminal carboxyl group content, and a low insoluble foreign matter content. SOLUTION: In producing a polyester by the polycondensation of a product obtained by the esterification or transesterification of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component mainly comprising terephthalic acid or its ester-forming derivative with a glycol component mainly comprising propylene glycol, a liquid obtained by treating a titanium compound with water containing an alkali compound, an organic solvent, or a mixture of water and an organic solvent is added as a catalyst for esterification, transesterification and/or polycondensation.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester composition which yields a fiber product, etc., having a high strength and a high elastic recovery (strechability), allows little break at yarn-making or film-formation and shows an excellent molding processibility.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject polyester composition having excellent moldability and excellent polymer color tone in excellent productivity by carrying out a polycondensation, while adding a specific binuclear oxide as a polycondensation catalyst after the addition of the particles. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polyester composition containing particles comprises polycondensing a product obtained by the esterification reaction or transesterification reaction of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its ester-forming derivative with a diol or its ester-forming derivative, while a binuclear oxide comprising titanium and silicon as main metal elements is added as a polycondensation catalyst after the addition of the particles. The binuclear oxide is added in an amount of 1-300 ppm, preferably 2-200 ppm, more preferably 3-100 ppm, based on the obtained polyester composition. The method is suitable for the production of a polyethylene terephthalate or a copolyester consisting mainly of the polyethylene terephthalate, and titanium dioxide particles, or the like, are suitable as the particles.
