A laundry treating machine is provided. The laundry treating machine may include a tub to receive wash water, a drum rotatably provided in the tub, an air supply device to supply air to the tub, a lint filter to filter lint from the air circulated by the air supply device, a filter cleaning device to supply cleaning water to the lint filter to remove the lint from the lint filter, and a cooling water supply device to supply cooling water to an inner surface of the tub such that moisture contained in air is condensed at the inner surface of the tub.

The aim of the invention is to improve the backwashing action of a backwashable filter for liquids comprising the following: a filter body which is located in a housing and which separates an incoming flow chamber from an outgoing flow chamber and a backwashing channel which lies adjacent to the filter body, is situated in the outgoing flow chamber and has a backwashing opening that faces towards the filter body, said backwashing channel also communicating with a source of a cleaning medium and said cleaning medium being subjected to pressure in the backwashing channel, and the filter body and the backwashing channel being moveable in relation to each other. To this end, the filter body has links on a side facing towards the backwashing channel which are set apart from each other in the direction of motion. Adjacent links form a separately backwashable segment respectively and when a segment is backwashed, the corresponding links lie sealingly against the backwashing channel with sealing surfaces and expose the backwashing opening. Each sealing surface extends further than the backwashing opening in the direction of motion, so that each link can tightly seal the backwashing opening with its sealing surface.

The invention relates to a dewatering device comprising a drum screen arranged for rotational movement inside a housing, means arranged to supply medium to be dewatered, means to remove from the drum screen interior material retained therein, and means for removal of water passing through the drum screen. In accordance with the invention the drum screen is formed with a number of axial carrier protrusions and the devices for removal of material retained inside the drum screen (2) consist of an upwardly open material discharge duct extending the lengthwise direction of the drum screen at the upper part thereof for reception, upon rotation of the drum screen, of material lifted by said carrier protrusions, in addition to which means are provided above the material discharge duct (16) for flushing thereof from the exterior of the drum screen.

In a method of filtering particle-contaminated liquid delivered to the upper side of a filter (2) which coacts with an outlet (3), spray pipes (4) equipped with nozzles (5) and rotatably mounted beneath the underside of the filter direct jets of flushing liquid onto the filter. Mounted above the filter surface at a distance therefrom is a drainage channel (7) by means of which parts of the particle-carrying liquid is collected and conducted to the outlet. The drainage channel has an extended part which forms a channel inlet and also functions as a splash guard. The invention also relates to a filter arrangement of the kind defined.

A rotary disc filter is provided with a system for inhibiting biological fouling from biological growth on filters that form a part of the rotary disc filter. A biocide is pumped from a biocide supply tank to a manifold and mixed with a backwash to form a backwash-biocide solution. The backwash-biocide solution is sprayed onto filter media during a backwashing operation and the presence of the biocide inhibits and eliminates biological growth on the filter media.

Eine für die Filterung von Wasser für eine Grauwasseranlage bestimmte Filteranordnung enthält ein Trommelfilter mit senkrechter Achse, das in einem Behälter konzentrisch angeordnet ist. Das zu filternde Wasser flieht in den Ringraumzwischen dem Behälter und dem Trommelfilter und von dort radial durch das Trommelfilter in dessen Innenraum. Zum Zurückspülen wird mit Hilfe einer Pumpe Wasser an einer bestimmten Stelle durch das Trommelfilter von innen nach außen gepumpt. Gleichzeitig kann an der gleichen Stelle das zurückgehaltene Material von der Vorderseite des Filters her abgespült werden.

Ein Verfahren zum Ausfiltrieren und Rückspülen von Feststoff-Partikeln aus Flüssigkeiten arbeitet mit einer gänzlich unter dem Flüssigkeitsspiegel 6 angeordneten Filtertrommel 5, deren Mantelfläche 7 mit einem Filtermedium 8 belegt ist und von außen nach innen durchströmt wird. Es ist eine Rückspülvorrichtung zum Entfernen des Filterkuchens von dem Filtermedium 8 vorgesehen. Zu Beginn jedes Rückspülzyklusses wird in die Filtertrommel 5 ein Luftpolster 15 eingebracht und damit die Flüssigkeit in der Filtertrommel 5 so verdrängt, daß über eine im Innern der Filtertrommel 5 abdichtungslos angeordnete Spritzeinrichtung 19 mit einem Spritzkopf 17 Flüssigkeit durch das Luftpolster 15 hindurch auf die Rückseite der Mantelfläche 7 der Filtertrommel 5 gespritzt wird. Der so gelöste Filterkuchen wird außen von einer Flüssigkeitsströmung gemäß Pfeil 22 hinweggeführt.
