    Abstract: A distributed antenna system includes a host unit configured to receive downlink wireless network information from a radio access network interface and at least one antenna unit communicatively coupled to the host unit by at least one digital communication link. Host unit is configured to convert downlink wireless network information received from radio access network interface from first protocol layer to second protocol layer. Second protocol layer uses relevant bits more efficiently than first protocol layer. Host unit is configured to communicate downlink wireless network information to at least one antenna unit across at least one digital communication link. At least one antenna unit is configured to convert downlink wireless network information communicated from host unit from second protocol layer to downlink radio frequency signals. At least one antenna unit is configured to communicate downlink radio frequency signals wirelessly using at least one antenna.

    Abstract: A panel array antenna (1) has a waveguide network (5) coupling an input feed (10) to a plurality of primary coupling cavities (15). Each of the primary coupling cavities is provided with four output ports (20), each of the output ports coupled to a horn radiator (25). The waveguide network is provided on a second side (50) of an input layer (35) and a first side (30) of a first intermediate layer (45). The primary coupling cavities are provided on a second side (50) of the first intermediate layer (45) and the output ports provided on a first side (30) of an output layer (75), each of the output ports in communication with one of the horn radiators. The horn radiators are provided as an array of horn radiators on a second side (50) of the output layer (75).     Abstract: A cable includes an inner core. In one embodiment, the inner core includes at least one optical fiber, plural flaccid strength members, such as aramid yarns, and at least one rigid strength member, such as one or more GRP rods. A jacket surrounds the inner core. The jacket has an undulating thickness which results in plural projections formed on an outer surface of the jacket, extending along the length of the cable. In a first embodiment, the at least one optical fiber is centrally located within the inner core and surrounded by a buffer tube, which is surrounded by plural GRP rods. In other embodiments, the at least one optical fiber is centrally located within the inner core and located within a channel formed in a single GRP rod or located within a buffer tube, which is placed in the channel formed in the single GRP rod.

    Abstract: Certain features relate to operating a distributed antenna system or repeater system communicating frequency-division duplexing ("FDD") signals in a time-division duplexing ("TDD") mode. A TDD mode scheduler is configured for monitoring a downlink communications channel for the start of a downlink frame, sub-frame, or resource slot. Based on the start of a downlink frame, sub-frame, or resource slot, the TDD mode scheduler can identify a TDD transmission time-slot. The TDD mode scheduler can schedule high-powered downlink sub-frames during the TDD transmission time-slots where higher power output may be desirable. Based on the indication of the TDD transmission time-slot, a transmit/receive controller can increase the gain of the downlink communication and reduce the gain of the uplink communication.
