Abstract:
Methods of powering a radio that is mounted on a tower of a cellular base station are provided in which a direct current ("DC") power signal is provided to the radio over a power cable and a voltage level of the output of the power supply is adjusted so as to provide a substantially constant voltage at a first end of the power cable that is remote from the power supply. Related cellular base stations and programmable power supplies are also provided.

Abstract:

Abstract:
A power supply for providing electrical power to a radio through radio ends of electrical conductors, wherein the electrical conductors comprise first ends opposite the radio ends, the power supply, comprising: control logic circuitry configured to obtain a resistance of the electrical conductors; a conversion circuit electrically coupled to the control logic circuitry, and configured to output a first direct current (DC) voltage to the first ends; and a current sensor, electrically coupled to the control logic circuitry, and configured to measure a current level output from a convention circuit; wherein the conversion circuit is further configured to adjust a level of the first DC voltage using the obtained resistance and the measured current level and to maintain a second DC voltage level at the radio ends of the electrical conductors that exceeds a nominal DC input voltage level, of the radio, at which the radio is recommended to operate.

Abstract:
A connection interface with a female portion for interconnection with a conductive male portion or a capacitive coupling male portion interface provides conductive coupling when interconnected with the conductive male portion and capacitive coupling when coupled with the capacitive coupling male portion. The female portion may include a spring basket dimensioned to receive a pin of the conductive male portion and to seat within a socket of the conductive male portion, separated by an inner conductor dielectric spacer.

Abstract:
A method is provided. The method comprises receiving at least one parameter measured at a first end of a power cable proximate to a remote radio head coupled to the first end of the power cable; and using the at least one parameter, determining a voltage level of an output of a power supply system, coupled to the second end of the power cable, that maintains the voltage at a the first end at a constant level or within a range.
