Abstract:
Disclosed are processes for application of dyes and topical chemistries to single yarns during a yarn rewind process. The process foregoes the need for downstream environmentally unfavorable dyeing and low PH chemical treatment processes on the finished carpet. Further, neutral pH dye solutions can be used instead of the prior art low pH dye solutions. The single, treated yarn can then be twisted, weaved and tufted, twisted yarn under dry conditions, and the twisted yarn subsequently weaved or weaved and tufted, into a finished fabric or carpet. Also disclosed are systems, BCF yarns, and carpets made from the BCF yarn treated by the disclosed processes.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for manufacturing copolyether ester polyol comprising: (1) providing feedstock comprising polytetramethylene ether glycol having a number average molecular weight of 350 g/mol or less and an oligomeric cyclic ether content of 4.0% by weight or more and a diacid composition selected from alpha-omega alkanedioic acids of formula HO2C—(CH2)n—CO2H, where n is from 2 through 16 to a reaction zone maintained at reaction conditions to produce a crude polyol product; (2) feeding the crude polyol product of step (1) to a separation zone at separation conditions to produce a first separation product having an oligomeric cyclic ether content of 2.0% by weight or greater, and a second separation product comprising copolyether ester polyol having an oligomeric cyclic ether content of less than 2.0% by weight; and (3) recovering the second separation product.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved process for manufacturing polytetramethylene ether glycol. The process involves controlling the number average molecular weight of the diacetate of polytetramethylene ether glycol intermediate produced by tetrahydrofuran polymerization before methanolysis thereof to desired polytetramethylene ether glycol product.
Abstract:
This document describes biochemical pathways that include the production of 3-oxopent-4-enoyl-CoA by condensation of acryloyl-CoA and acetyl-CoA using a β-ketothiolase with a SER-HIS-HIS catalytic triad. These pathways described herein rely on enzymes such as, inter alia, dehydrogenases, dehydratases and β-ketothiolases.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved process for producing hydrogen cyanide involving a heat exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes, wherein each of the plurality of tubes comprises a ceramic ferrule extending through the entrance of the tube, each ferrule comprising an insulation layer surrounding at least a portion of the ferrule, and one or more washers, wherein at least one of the one or more washers surrounds the ferrule above the entrance of the tube, wherein the ceramic ferrule is spaced apart from the tube. It further relates to a reaction apparatus for producing hydrogen cyanide involving a heat exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes, wherein each of the plurality of tubes comprises a ceramic ferrule extending through the entrance of the tube, each ferrule comprising an insulation layer surrounding at least a portion of the ferrule, and one or more washers, wherein at least one of the one or more washers surrounds the ferrule above the entrance of the tube, wherein the ceramic ferrule is spaced apart from the tube. It further relates to the heat exchanger for use in this improved process and reaction apparatus.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing terephthalic acid and for purifying the mother liquor resulting from said process. Useful compounds can be extracted from the mother liquor and the purified mother liquor can be returned for use in the process. Advantageously, certain parameters of the mother liquor purification method are selected such that the purification provides an economic benefit as compared with other purification methods.
Abstract:
Disclosed are processes for applying anti-soil compositions on BCF yams during cable or air twisting processes prior to weaving, knitting or tufting. The process foregoes the need for downstream environmentally unfavorable dyeing and low pH chemical treatment processes on the finished carpet. The anti-soil composition can be comprised of a high specific surface energy chemical or other material, for example a fluorochemical. Further, the anti-soil composition can further comprise an anti-stain component. Also disclosed are systems, BCF yarns, and carpets made from the BCF yarn treated by the disclosed process.
