Abstract: A fluid valve includes a sleeve (10) having an inlet (16) and an outlet (18). There ist a stem (34) movable within the sleeve (10) and having an inlet (68) and an outlet (72), with the stem inlet (68) being in communication with the sleeve inlet (16) and the stem outlet (72) being movable into communication with the sleeve outlet (18) to define a path of flow through the valve from the communicating inlets through the stem outlet (72) and the sleeve outlet (18). There is a check valve (62) movable within the stem (34). Water flowing in the direction of the path of flow maintaining the check valve (62) in a position unrestrictive to the path of flow. When water flows in a direction opposite to the path of flow, the check valve (62) will close the path of flow.

Abstract: A self-contained lash adjuster has a generally cup-shaped follower and a spacer mounting a lash adjuster cartridge assembly within the follower. The cartridge assembly includes a movable body and a plunger, with a high pressure chamber being defined between the plunger and body. A check valve controls fluid flow through a plunger passage into the high pressure chamber. There is a diaphragm seal which is attached at its outer periphery to an interior wall of the follower and attached at its inner periphery to the movable body. The seal in part defines a fluid reservoir. There is a passage connecting the reservoir with the cartridge assembly. Movement of the body toward the plunger moves fluid from the high pressure chamber to the fluid reservoir, causing a stretching of the diaphragm seal.

Abstract: A shower-tub diverter valve has a housing with a diverter chamber and a water inlet and shower and tub outlets in communication with the chamber. A diverter formed of a stem and a loosely attached cylindrical member are reciprocal in the chamber between a position providing communication between the inlet and the tub outlet, and a second position in which the diverter cylindrical member blocks said communication. The diverter cylindrical member is in substantial sealing relation with the tub outlet when in the blocking position. The cylindrical portion of the diverter is movable relative to the stem and the diverter chamber includes guide means for use in aligning the diverter cylindrical portion as it moves between the described positions.
