Abstract:
A fishing reel end plate (200) may comprise a unitary disk (200) having a generally central opening (252) between a frame facing side (220) and an exterior side (210) thereof, a bridge (230) proximate the frame facing side (220) and a wall (242) joining a fundus and the exterior side (210) defining a first cavity (250) open at the exterior side (210). The bridge (230) may have a hole (232) spaced apart from a generally central opening (252) for receiving a stud (120). The unitary disk (200) may have a second cavity (260) open at the frame facing side (220) and separated from the first cavity (250) by a common portion of the wall (242). The common wall (242) portion may have an opening (212) between the first and second cavities (250, 260). The end plate (200) may be mounted to the frame (20) of a fishing reel (10).
Abstract:
A device for irradiating blood is provided, the device including a chamber having an elongate configuration defining a hollow interior, the chamber formed of reflective material, a tubular cassette sized and shaped to be received in the interior of the chamber, the tubular cassette having an inside diameter sized and shaped to receive a reflective core having an elongate configuration with an exterior diameter smaller than the interior diameter of the cassette to provide a space for receiving and holding blood stationary, and an array of light-emitting members arranged on the chamber for emitting light of at least one wavelength into the interior of the chamber for irradiating and treating the blood inside the cassette.

Abstract:
An rf ion source suitable for low power operation over a range of pressures in air comprises discharge electrodes having one or more cathodes (1) and an anode (2). Each cathode (1) is connected to an rf signal supply (8) through an associated coupling means (4) and the anode (2) is adapted to provide a surface area over which a plasma discharge may occur that is not substantially greater than the total cathodal area over which the discharge may occur. In this way the anode (2) presents no more useful surface than is required to accommodate the optimum area of the plasma discharge thereby preventing plasma wander and enhancing the stability of the discharge over known ion sources. By configuring the electrodes such that the respective areas of the anode and the cathode(s) over which discharge occurs are separated by no more than 5 mm and by forming the electrodes to have highly curved ends and so creating a higly distorted electric field in the inter-electrode gap when the source is in operation, it is possible to create an effective discharge with very low power input even at atmospheric p ressure.
Abstract:
The retractable conduit of the invention comprises a sheet of memory-set polyester (4) formed as a conduit. To manufacture the memory-set strip, the polyester sheet (4) is wound into the desired retracted, e.g. coiled, position, heated and cooled. After this process the sheet of polyester will automatically assume the retracted position. In one embodiment, suitable as a splashblock, the distal end (47) of the polyester sheet (46) is wider than the end (48) attachable to a downspout (49). In another embodiment the polyester sheet (4) is sheathed in an elongated polyethylene tube (2), to form a retractable hose. In a preferred embodiment, the distal end of the hose is supported on a spool (14) which will roll along the ground as the hose is wound and unwound to further ensure that the hose retracts properly. The tube can also be provided with holes (18) to act as a sprinkler if desired.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses methods for the detection and monitoring of a condition in a subject using highly sensitive detection of molecules. The invention provides a method for detecting or monitoring a condition in a subject, comprising detecting a first marker in a first sample from the subject and detecting a second marker, wherein the first marker comprises a biomarker, e.g., Cardiac Troponin-I (cTnl) or Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), and wherein the limit of detection of the first marker is less than about 10 pg/ml. The second marker can be a biomarker, physiological marker, a molecular marker or a genetic marker.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, kits, and compositions for fluorescent detection of single biomolecules, e.g. proteins, using highly sensitive fluorescent dyes and a flow cell with one interrogation space for irradiation by focused laser beam. The methods, kits, and compositions are useful in determining concentrations of molecules in samples to levels of 1 femtomolar, 1 attomolar, or lower. The methods, kits, and compositions also allow the determination of concentration over a wide range, e.g., 7-log range, without need for sample dilution.
