Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound, having low irritancy to the skin or hair, good in tough thereon, excellent in foaming power and emulsification stability and useful for various detergents, emulsifying agents, conditioning agents, etc. CONSTITUTION: A multichain type amine derivative of formula I [R is a (hydroxyl-substituted)straight-chain or branched chain 1-24C alkyl or alkenyl; R is a (hydroxyl-substituted)straight-chain or branched chain 1-4C alkyl or alkenyl; X is a halogen], e.g. tris(2-hydroxy-4,4-dimethyl-4-azoniadodecyl)amine chloride. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting an amine derivative of formula II with one or two or more halogenated hydrocarbons having different R groups of the formula R -X. Furthermore, the reaction is preferably carried out by reacting the compound of formula II with the halogenated hydrocarbon in an equiv. amount of 2-10 times based on three amino groups in the compound of formula II in the presence of, e.g. an inert solvent at 20-150 deg.C, preferably 60-120 deg.C.

CONSTITUTION: (A) Pentaerythritol is reacted with (B) a glycidyl ether of formula I (R is 1-36C alkyl, alkenyl) in the absence of a solvent at 200-400 deg.C, preferably 200-300 deg.C, to obtain a glyceryetherified pentaerythritol of formula: (Y)4 -S (S is the residue obtained by removing all hydroxyl groups from pentaerythritol; Y is a group selected from a group of formula II, a group of formula III and a hydroxyl group, wherein at least one of the Y groups comprises the group of formula II or the group of formula III). R is preferably a 3-36C branched alkyl of formula IV (q, r are integers of 0-33 wherein the sum of q and r is 0-33).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polysaccharide derivative useful as a cosmetic and a cleaning agent having excellent water-retainability and feeling, keeping the effect over a long period, giving excellent feeling to the skin and resistant to sweat and water by introducing a carboxybetaine group to a polysaccharide. CONSTITUTION:This polysaccharide derivative is expressed by the formula (Z is a polysaccharide residue obtained by removing n-OH groups from a polysaccharide molecule; R and R each is a 1-3C straight or branched chain alkyl which may have hydroxyl group; A is a 1-3C straight or branched chain alkylene; (n) is a number not larger than the total number of hydroxyl groups in the polysaccharide molecule). The polysaccharide is selected from beta-1,4-glucan, alpha-1,4-glucan, alpha-1,6-glucan, pullulan, their hydroxyethyl derivatives, hydroxypropyl derivatives and 2,3-hydroxypropyl derivatives, for example cellulose or starch. The average degree substitution of the carboxybetaine group per one sugar residue in the polysaccharide molecule is 0.1-0.3. The derivative is produced by converting a polysaccharide of formula Z-(OH)n to a deoxyhalogenated polysaccharide, reacting with an amine and reacting the resultant aminopolysaccharide with a monohalogenated carboxylic acid salt.

The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction between a compound of formula II and a compound of formula III or by reaction of the compound of formula II with a compound of formula IV (R , R are H, a 1 to 5C alkyl, a 1 to 5C alkenyl) followed by hydrolysis of the product when R and R each is an alkyl or an alkenyl.

These compounds are produced by reacting an organo(poly)siloxane with a polyvalent metal salt of an unsaturated group-containing phosphoric acid diester. The resultant compounds are used as a gelling agent or a cosmetic.
