Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an O/W ultraheavy oil emulsion which has a low viscosity and a long term stability. CONSTITUTION:An ultraheavy oil emulsion is prepd. by emulsifying a mixture comprising 100 pts.wt. ultraheavy oil, 25-80 pts.wt. water, and 0.02-5 pts.wt. nonionic surfactant which is selected from the group consisting of an alkylene oxide adduct of or an alkylene oxide polymer mono- or/and diesterified with a tall oil fatty acid, a tall rosin acid, gum rosin, wood rosin, and their mixtures or selected from the group consisting of an alkylene oxide adduct of or an alkylene oxide polymer mono- or/and diesterified with an arom. cyclic compd. having at least one carboxyl group and derived from petroleum or coal. The emulsion may further contain an anionic surfactant in an amt. of 0.2--300 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. the nonionic surfactant or/and a hydrophilic high-molecular substance in an amt. of 0.01-1 pt.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. the oil.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure excellent dispersibility, to reduce the viscosity of a slurry, to increase the density of a molded body, to attain a reduced sintering temp. and to enhance strength by mixing starting material for ceramics with a specified dispersant and a dispersing solvent, molding and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:An alkylamine compd. represented by the formula [where R1 is 8-28C alkyl or alkenyl is R2 is 2-4C alkylene, R3 is H or 1-4C alkyl and (n) is 0-4], e.g. laurinamine, alkylethylenediamine or lauryldipropylenetriamine is prepd. as a dispersant for ceramic powder. Starting material for ceramics such as silicon nitride is mixed with the dispersant in the presence of a nonpolar dispersing solvent such as toluene, other arom. hydrocarbon, pentane or other satd. hydrocarbon. The resulting mixture is molded and sintered to produce a ceramic sintered body.

CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. (hereinafter merely 'pts.') ultraheavy oil is mixed with 30-80 pts. water, 0.05-4 pts. nonionic surfactant having a hydrophile-lipophile balance of 14-19, such as an alkylene oxide adduct (of a formalin condensate having an average degree of condensation of 1.2-100) of a phenolic hydroxyl compd. (provided that the alkylene oxide is ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide, butylene oxide or styrene oxide), 0.003-1 pt. hydrophilic natural polymer derived from a microorganism, a plant or an animal, such as xanthan gum, agar, tara gum, gum karaya, pectin, gelatin or a cellulose derivative, or hydrophilic natural polymer derived from a naturally occurring substance (including a microorganism) selected from among natural polymer derivatives, and optionally an anionic surfactant, and the mixture is stirred under high shearing for emulsification.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the excellent dispersion stability in the various fine powder and to enable the redispersion by means of the stirring even when the fine powder is settled by blending the water insoluble fine powder, neucleic acid and water to prepare a dispersant. CONSTITUTION:A dispersant is prepared by mixing about 0.1-90wt% water insoluble fine powder, about 99.9-5wt% water and about 0.0001-1wt% neucleic acid. The water insoluble fine powder is the fine powder which is insoluble or hardly soluble in water and both organic powder and inorganic powder are contained and for example, titania, iron oxide, zinc oxide and clay, etc., are used as the inorganic fine powder and the insoluble azo dye and anthraquinone disperse dye, etc., are used as the organic fine powder. Deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid are adopted as neucleic acid and the acid of about >=100,000mol.wt., especially about >=500,000mol.wt. is preferable.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a superior dispersing agent for calcium carbonate by constituting a copolymer of (meth)acrylic acid with a specified deriv. of (meth) acrylic acid having a constitutional molar ratio and an average mol.wt. within specified range.
CONSTITUTION: The (meth)acrylic acid copolymer comprises recurrent structural units expressed by the general formula I (wherein X is H or methyl; R is 2W3C alkylene: n is an integer 1W50) and recurrent structural units expressed by the general formula II (wherein X is H or methyl; M is H, univalent metal, bivalent metal, ammonium group, or an org. amine group), wherein the molar ratio of the total amt. of I to II is I /II=0.5/100W20/100 and the average mol.wt. is 500W 20,000. The dispersing agent is preferably alkali metal salt, or ammonium salt. The dispersing agent is particularly effective for the dispersion of precipitated calcium carbonate having 0.02W5μ particle size and heavy calcium carbonate having 3W10μ particle size.
