    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a melt-moldable wholly aromatic polyester excellent in mechanical properties, heat resistance and flow, having structural units derived from p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and hydroquinone. CONSTITUTION:This consists of structural units I-III of formulas I-III, wherein the unit I is present in an amount of 30-90mol%, based on the entire units, the unit II is present in an amount of 50-90mol%, based on the units II and III, the carbonyl groups of the units II and III are para or meta to each other and 65-80mol% of these carbonyl groups are in para positions. Said polyester has an inherent viscosity (as measured in pentafluorophenol in a 0.1g/dl concentration at 60 deg.C) of 0.5-15dl/g and can be melt-molded.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. which has improved extrusion stability and gives moldings having good mechanical properties, appearance and heat resistance, by blending a fibrous or particulate reinforcing agent, polyphenylene sulfide and a specified organometallic compd. with a thermoplastic polyester. CONSTITUTION:5-150pts.wt. fibrous and/or particulate reinforcing agent, 5- 100pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide, and 0.1-2pts.wt. one or more compds. selected from GroupIor II metal stearates, benzoates, terephthalates and monomethylterephthalates, are blended with 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester. Examples of the fibrous reinforcing agents are glass fiber, asbestos fiber and metallic fiber. Examples of the particulate reinforcing agents are talc, alumina and glass bead.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled molding excellent in impact resistance, high- temperature mechanical properties, heat resistance, etc., by adding a reinforcement and polyphenylene sulfide, melt-molding the mixture and then heat-treating the molding under a relatively severe condition. CONSTITUTION:To 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester are added 5-150pts.wt. fibrous and/or particulate reinforcement (e.g., glass fiber, alumina, or silicon oxide) and 5-100pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide of formulaI, wherein Ph is a group of formula II, III or IV or a like group. The purpose reinforced polyester resin molding is obtaned by melt-molding the resin composition with an injection molding machine or an extruder and heat-treating the produced molding for at least 20min at a temperature of 200-280 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a transparent sheet or a container having excellent heat resistance and being suitable as a food package or the like by molding copolymerized polyester formed from a dicarboxylic acid component containing terephthalic acid at a content above a specified amount and specified diol component. CONSTITUTION:A dicarboxylic acid component containing 60mol% or more, preferably 70mol% or more the terephthalic acid and a diol component containing 85-99mol% of aliphatic or alicyclic diol such as 1,3-propanediol or 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and 15-1mol% of 1,3-cyclohexanediol are subjected to esterification reaction or transesterification reaction and copolymerized polyester is formed by a heat polycondensation method or the like by using a catalyst. Subsequently, the obtained copolymerized polyester is molded to a sheet or a container by a melt molding method or the like.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a modified polyester having high heat resistance and elasticity, and useful as a raw material of film and fiber, by polymerizing the monomers of the polyester in the presence of a specific phenol compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective modified polyester is prepared by polymerizing (A) terephthalic acid and (B) an alkylene glycol such as ethylene glycol, in the presence of (C) 5-60mol (based on 100 moles of the acid component) of a phenol compound of formula I (R is 1-6C alkyl; Ar is phenol residue) or of formula II (R' is H, 1-6C alkyl, etc.). USE:The polymers containing 2-20 moles of the phenol compound is suitable to manufacture a film and fiber by orientation and crystallization, and those containing 20-60 moles of the phenol compound are amorphous resin having high glass transition temperature, and suitable to manufacture a sheet, etc.
