An electro-kinetic or electro-static apparatus for moving fluid includes an enlogated electrode energizable with respect to at least one other electrode to generate ions and thereby motivate fluid flow there between. A cleaning device is positioned to frictionally engage at least two opposing surfaces of the elongated electrode. The cleaning device is movable along a length of the elongated electrode to thereby remove detrimental material from the at least two opposing surfaces of the elongated electrode. The cleaning device can be substantially off-center relative to the elongated electrode to frictionally bind upon the elongated electrode during movement of the cleaning device.

Apparatus for the production of a product gas (eg hydrogen and ozone) comprises: a supply of reactant gas (eg oxygen and steam) (14); a pair of electrodes (24) with a space between them of less than 1 mm (28); a conduit to lead the reactant gas from the source through the space between the electrodes; a power source (26) to apply a voltage across the electrodes to dis sociate the reactant gas and ultimately permit formation of product gas; and a conduit (40) to supply the product gas to an outlet. sterilisation unit for water treatment employs such apparatus and includes a fluidic oscillator to oscillate the flow of oxygen and/or ozone, and wherein said outlet comprises a plurality of orifices (42) to be submerged in said water and for the purpose of forming micro bubbles of ozone. An analyser for detecting large organic molecules in eg air can employ the ozone generator to breakdown the large molecule into simpler and easier-to-detect-and-identify molecules.

An electro-kinetic air mover for creating an airflow using no moving parts. The electro-kinetic air mover includes an ion generator that has an electrode assembly including a first array of emitter electrodes, a second array of collector electrodes, and a high voltage generator. Preferably, a third or leading or focus electrode is located upstream of the first array of emitter electrodes, and/or a trailing electrode is located downstream of the second array of collector electrodes. The device can also include an interstitial electrode located between collector electrodes, an enhanced collector electrode with an integrally formed trailing end, and an enhanced emitter electrode with an enhanced length in order to increase emissivity.

The invention provides for a system and method for creating an optimized fuel/air mixture for more efficient combustion. The system in accordance with the invention includes an ozone generator and a gasifier that receives liquid fuel and ozone and creates an optimized fuel of mixture. The optimized fuel/air mixture is then delivered to the cylinders of a combustion engine.

A silent discharge plasma apparatus includes a dielectric member, a pair of electrodes opposed to each other across the dielectric member and an alternating-current source applying an alternating-current voltage between the electrodes and causing a discharge. A gas is supplied to a discharge space, where discharge occurs, and a plasma is produced. At least one of the electrodes includes a conductive power feeding thin film on the dielectric member. When the dielectric member is destroyed and an arc discharge develops between the electrodes, the power feeding thin film is eliminated or oxidized, and the arc discharge is stopped.

To provide a generator capable of generating plasma and ozone with high efficiency and easy to handle, with a simple structure. An electrode part 10 is formed of electrodes 11 and 12 without dielectric material interposed therebetween. An arc-extinguishing capacitor 13 as a charge storage part for storing charge is connected in series to the electrode part 10. An AC power source 15 generating plasma by causing self-arc-extinguishing discharge between the electrodes 11 and 12 by applying AC voltage to charge and discharge the arc-extinguishing capacitor 13, is connected to both ends of a circuit in which the electrode part 10 and the arc-extinguishing capacitor 13 are connected in series. The arc-extinguishing capacitor 13 and one electrode 12 of the electrode part 10 connected thereto are unitized, for making the electrode part multi-polarized. A unit is constituted of a floating electrode serving as both of the one electrode 12 of the electrode part 10 and one electrode of the arc-extinguishing capacitor 13, an insulating material provided around the floating electrode and a grounding electrode provided around the insulating material.

Decrease in the ozone concentration that becomes a problem when high purity oxygen is used as a raw material gas is prevented. A high purity alumina substrate having a high screen degree is used as a dielectric. A catalytic substance to hinder the decrease of the ozone concentration is fixed on the surface of the alumina substrate as the dielectric by a baking fixing agent. The baking fixing agent is a glass that becomes a paste form that is capable of powder kneading the catalytic substance and attaching to the surface of the dielectric, fixes the catalytic substance on the surface of the dielectric by hardening by baking, and shows ozone resistance and sputtering resistance under the production of ozone in the discharge gap, and forms a functional film containing a large amount of the catalytic substance and is stable on the surface of the dielectric.

An air conditioner device includes a housing, a first electrode disposed in the housing, and a second electrode removably disposed in the housing. The second electrode can be manually removed from the housing and then manually returned to a resting position within the housing. A base member is attached to a bottom portion of the second electrode. An at least partially flexible cleaning member is attached to the base member. The cleaning member frictionally cleans the first electrode when, after being removed from the housing, the second electrode is manually returned to the resting position within the housing.
