Abstract: A system and method for treating water to be used for irrigation. The system and method utilizes an apparatus for generating ozone and other atoms and molecules resulting from the bombardment of a feed gas with electrons has, preferably, a first electrode positioned within a channel in a second electrode. The first electrode is a substantially sealed tube made of dielectric material, having at least one electron gun positioned proximate an end thereof for firing electrons into the first electrode. In electrical communication with the electron gun is a rod, maintained in a tube also made of dielectric material, which acts to maintain a constant energy level through the length of the rod and thus the length of the electrode. Within the first electrode is an inert gas which, upon the firing of the electron gun, is formed into a plasma. When a feed gas (generally air) is passed between the first and second electrodes, the electrons and plasma cause the formation of ozone and other atoms and molecules in the feed gas, which products have beneficial uses in the treatment of water and air for different purposes. The treated feed gas is then injected, preferably with a venturi type of injector, into the water to be treated.

Abstract: An ozone generator is formed of at least one ozone-generating pipe, a feed gas chamber connected to one side of the ozone-generating pipe, and an ozonized gas chamber connected to the other side of the ozone-generating pipe. When an oxygen-containing feed gas is supplied to the ozone-generating pipe through the feed gas chamber, the feed gas is subjected to silent discharge in a gap between a ground electrode and a high-voltage electrode in the ozone-generating pipe to thereby allow the feed gas to change to an ozonized gas, which is then fed to the ozonized gas chamber. Gas-permeable flame-propagation-preventing members are arranged to sandwich the discharge gap therebetween to prevent outward propagation of ozonized gas decomposition flame in case the frame is induced to the ozonized gas by spark discharge in the ozone-generating pipe. Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for the production of ozone gas comprising: a parallel resonance circuit formed by a high voltage transformer and a companion flexible polymeric corona discharge chamber which encloses an electrode and serves as both a passageway and reservoir for oxygen bearing gas, and a fluid counter-electrode, all contained within an appropriate enclosure. Said corona discharge chamber possesses an electrical reactance which can be varied in order to match the electrical reactance of a companion high voltage transformer so that the components resonate, thereby maximizing the transfer of energy to the corona discharge gap. The dwell of corona discharge is further enhanced by an electrostatic potential incorporated across said tube wall (electret effect). Heat formed in said discharge gap (detrimental to ozone production) is advantageously transferred to said fluid counter-electrode which also serves as an electrolytic connection between said high voltage transformer and said corona discharge chamber. Within said chamber, relatively large volumes of oxygen may be exposed to the high field density, ozone producing, resonating discharges as a consequence of its flexible and linear design. The apparatus and methods described herein permit and encourage the use of intermittent and cyclic application of resonating energy and therefore achieves an improved degree of electrical efficiency. The teachings of the present invention make practical the use of alternative sources of energy for the private and commercial generation of ozone gas.
