    Abstract: An overhead door apparatus (10) utilizing a torsion spring counterbalancing mechanism (30). The counterbalancing mechanism (30) includes a worm drive ring-shaped gear winding mechanism (38) for setting the appropriate torque or number of winds in the spring (32). A counting mechanism (140) is provided to indicate to the installer the number of winds being given to the spring (32). Means are also provided for accommodating spring growth and contraction during winding and unwinding using the winding mechanism (38) and during normal raising and lowering of the door (12). A spring clip gear retainer (82) is disclosed for preventing rotation or creep of the worm drive gear (70) and spur gear (56) during normal raising and lowering of the door (12). A second embodiment is disclosed allowing more universal interchangeability of components between the left and right sides of the door system (200), easy snap-in assembly, and including a telescoping spring cover (252). Each embodiment includes a spring winding counter (140).

    Abstract: A hinge structure is adapted to connect two objects for the two objects rotating with respect to each other. The hinge structure includes a first member, a second member, a third member, and an elastic assembly. The first and the third members are respectively assembled to the two objects. The second member pivoted to the first member rotates about an axis relative to the first member. The third member pivoted to the second member rotates about the axis relative to the second member. In a first state, the second member is accommodated in a recess of the first member. In a second state, the second member moves with the third member and at least a portion of the second member is moved out of the recess. The elastic assembly connected between the first and the third members constantly moves the second member into the recess to maintain the first state.

    Abstract: A device that converts an existing power tool to apply a rotational force to a spring of a rollup or overhead door counterbalancing mechanism. The device has a rotatable driven gear mounted in a casting that carries a power transmitting structure. The casting and the driven gear have slots with an open end for accommodating the shaft of the counterbalancing mechanism. A removable novel coupling structure inserts into the driven gear and connects the driven gear to the winding cone of a spring so that rotation of the driven gear will apply rotational force to the spring. The casting with the driven gear is connected to the body of an existing power tool in place of the original tool head. A motor in the existing power tool body is connected to the power transmitting structure in the casting to rotate the driven gear.
