Abstract: An actuator 102 and vehicle system (100, Figure 1) comprising a motor 204 coupled to a gear train 206. The gear train 206 having a drive gear 208 which has a first gear portion (234, Figure 4) and an integral drive nut portion (236, Figure 4). A drive screw 210 extends through the drive nut portion (236) and is moved linearly relative to drive gear 208 between two positions by action of the motor. The drive screw is coupled to a plunger 108 via at least one spring 806. Preferably an anti rotation feature (212, Figure 6) is attached to the drive screw 210, the anti rotation feature (212) extending into a slot in a housing 222 (Figure 7). A magnet (606, Figure 3) may be attached to the drive screw 210 and may interact with Hall Effect sensors (608, 610, Figure 3).

Abstract: A steering shaft lock actuator including at least one motor having an output shaft; a drive train coupled to the output shaft, a locking pawl coupled to the drive train; and a housing for at least partially enclosing the motor, the drive train, the locking pawl and the locking pin. The drive train may be configured to linearly urge the locking pawl and a locking pin between a locked position wherein the locking pawl and the locking pin extend at least partially out of the housing and unlocked position wherein the locking pawl and the locking pin are retracted toward the housing relative to the locked position. The locking pawl may be positioned to prevent rotational movement of the steering shaft when in the locked position. The locking pin may be positioned to lock the actuator to a steering shaft interface when in the locked position.

Abstract: An electro-mechanical actuator for a window lift mechanism including a plurality of motors for driving an output shaft. The actuator may be incorporated into a window lift mechanism including a dual rack and pinion assembly, for driving the pinions along the racks. According to another aspect of the invention there is provided a variety of anti-back-drive mechanisms, e.g. clutches. A clutch according to one embodiment includes locking pawls that resist back-drive. In another embodiment, locking cams rotate relative to a carrier to resist back-drive. An actuator consistent with the invention may incorporate an impact mechanism including a flexible carrier. The carrier flexes to prevent impact forces at an output gear train from coupling to an input gear train.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual zone solar sensor incorporating a calibratable diffuser overlying a vertically oriented circuit board having at least one photodetector affixed to either side of the circuit board in a vertical plane. Each detector preferably has a mutually exclusive hemispherical view. By mounting the photodetectors in the vertical plane, the dual zone solar sensor device is capable of providing information about the intensity of a source of incident solar radiation and the relative position of that source of radiation. While the angular responses of the photodetectors in their vertical orientation are very close to those desired by skilled artisans for a dual zone sensor, the addition of a diffuser that is slidable, and therefore calibratable, provides a method by which the angular response of each photodetector may be permanently calibrated to achieve a precise desired angular response. The present inventive combination of features eliminates the need for complex and bulky electronic signal processing circuitry and decreases the number of parts necessary to achieve functions previously achieved only by larger sensors having a far greater number of component parts.
