Abstract: A MULTIPLE ACCESS, SPREAD-SPECTRUM COMMUNICATION SYSTEM PROCESSES A PLURALITY OF INFORMATION SIGNALS RECEIVED BY A RADIO CARRIER STATION (RCS) (104) OVER TELECOMMUNICATION LINES FOR SIMULTANEOUS TRANSMISSION OVER A RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) CHANNEL AS A CODE-DIVISION- MULTIPLEXED (CDM) SIGNAL TO A GROUP OF SUBSCRIBER UNITS (SUS). THE RCS (104) RECEIVES A CALL REQUEST SIGNAL THAT CORRESPONDS TO A TELECOMMUNICATION LINE INFORMATION SIGNAL, AND A USER IDENTIFICATION SIGNAL THAT IDENTIFIES A USER TO WHICH THE CALL REQUEST AND INFORMATION SIGNAL ARE ADDRESSED. THE RCS (104) INCLUDES A PLURALITY OF CODE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS (CDMA) MODEMS, ONE OF WHICH PROVIDES A GLOBAL PILOT CODE SIGNAL, AND THE MODEMS PROVIDE A PLURALITY OF MESSAGE CODE SIGNALS SYNCHRONIZED TO THE GLOBAL PILOT SIGNAL. IN RESPONSE TO A CHANNEL ASSIGNMENT SIGNAL, EACH MODEM COMBINES AN INFORMATION SIGNAL WITH A MESSAGE CODE SIGNAL TO PROVIDE A CDM PROCESSED SIGNAL. THE RCS (104) INCLUDES A SYSTEM CHANNEL CONTROLLER COUPLED TO RECEIVE A REMOTE CALL. THE RCS (104), WHICH PROVIDES THE CHANNEL ASSIGNMENT SIGNAL RESPONSIVE TO THE USER IDENTIFICATION SIGNAL.AN RF TRANSMITTER IS CONNECTED TO ALL OF THE MODEMS TO COMBINE THE CDM PROCESSED SIGNALS WITH THE GLOBAL PILOT CODE SIGNAL TO GENERATE A CDM SIGNAL. THE RF TRANSMITTER ALSO MODULATES A CARRIER SIGNAL WITH THE CDM SIGNAL AND TRANSMITS THE MODULATED CARRIER SIGNAL THROUGH AN RF COMMUNICATION CHANNEL TO THE SUS. EACH SU CORRESPONDING TO THE USER IDENTIFICATION SIGNAL INCLUDES A CDMA MODEM, WHICH IS ALSO SYNCHRONIZED TO THE GLOBAL PILOT SIGNAL. THE CDMA MODEM DESPREADS THE CDM SIGNAL TO RECOVER THE INFORMATION' SIGNAL, AND PROVIDES THE INFORMATION SIGNAL TO THE USER. THE SYSTEM INCLUDES A CLOSED LOOP POWER CONTROL METHOD FOR MAINTAINING A MINIMUM SYSTEM TRANSMIT POWER LEVEL FOR THE RCS (104) AND THE SUS, AND SYSTEM CAPACITY MANAGEMENT FOR MAINTAINING A MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ACTIVE SUS FOR IMPROVED SYSTEM PERFORMANCE.(FIG 1)

Abstract: The invention provides a spread spectrum communication system for maintaining an initial transmit power level of a communication station during periods of inactivity. The system comprises a first station (501) and a second station (502), the initial transmit power level of which is maintained, wherein the first station generates an automatic power control signal by comparing a measured noise power level in a communication channel and an estimated system transmit power level and the second station occasionally transmits a spread spectrum signal whilst in an inactive state and receives the automatic power control signal to adjust an initial transmit power level thereof.

Abstract: Un método para gestión de capacidad en un sistema de comunicación de espectro extendido que incluye una estación base (101) y una pluralidad de unidades de abonado (111-118), en el que la estación base (101) transmite a las unidades de abonado (111-118) una pluralidad de canales de espectro extendido que incluye un canal de acceso teniendo un valor de acceso de tráfico que es recibido por cada unidad de abonado (111-118), y una pluralidad respectiva de canales de mensajes; y en el que cada unidad de abonado (111-118) transmite a la estación base (101) un canal asignado que tiene un valor de alarma de potencia y un canal de mensaje de unidad de abonado, estando caracterizado el método por: - medir, mediante la estación base (101), un nivel de potencia de transmisión del canal de acceso y la pluralidad de canales de mensajes; - comparar, mediante la estación base (101), el nivel de potencia de transmisión con un primer valor de potencia predeterminado para producir un valor de salida de comparación de potencias; - bloquear la transmisión de un canal asignado y un canal respectivo de mensaje de unidad de abonado en respuesta al valor de salida de comparación de potencias, disponiendo el valor de acceso de tráfico en un primer valor predeterminado cuando el nivel de potencia de transmisión es equivalente a, o mayor que, el valor predeterminado, en el que una unidad de abonado (SU) de la pluralidad de unidades de abonado (111-118), en respuesta al valor de acceso de tráfico, no transmite el canal asignado ni el canal de mensaje de unidad de abonado; - medir, mediante cada una de las unidades de abonado (111-118), un nivel de potencia de transmisión de la unidad de abonado respectiva para el canal asignado y el canal de mensaje respectivos.

Abstract: Comunicaciones de acceso multiple por division de codigo (Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)), conocidas también como comunicaciones de banda ancha. Un método para conservar la capacidad de un enlace inalámbrico ISDN de un sistema de comunicacion de banda ancha incluyendo un primer transceptor de banda ancha y un segundo transceptor de banda ancha, recibiendo dicho primer transceptor de banda ancha una senal de datos digitales que incluye un método de indicador predeterminado que corresponde a un período inactivo y transfiriendo la senal de datos digitales a dicho segundo transceptor como una senal de banda ancha y recibiendo dicho segundo transceptor de banda ancha la senal de banda ancha y liberando la senal de datos digitales comprendiendo el método los pasos de: retardar, por el primer transceptor la senal de datos digitales para formar una senal de datos digitales retardadas, monitorear la senal de datos digitales para detectar el modelo de indicador predeterminado; transmitir la senal de datos digitales retardadas como la senal de banda ancha al segundo transceptor; suspender la transmision de la senal de datos digitales retardada cuando esta presente el modelo indicador; detectar, por el segundo transceptor, la ausencia de la senal de datos digitales retardados e insertar el modelo de indicador predeterminado en la senal de datos digitales liberada.
