    Abstract: An improved base station which cancels the effects of known fixed interference sources and produces a signal substantially free from the interference sources thereby increasing total channel capacity. The adaptive interference canceller base station includes a main antenna for receiving signals from other communication stations and at least one directional antenna directed toward an interference source.     Abstract: The invention reduces transient peaks in signals transmitted in CDMA communication systems. A plurality of spread spectrum data signals are combined into a combined signal having fluctuating power level corresponding to the combination of the data signals. The combined signal is modulated to produce an RF signal f or transmission. The average power of the combined signal is measured over a selected time period. The combined signal power level is adaptively limited to a calculated power level based at least in part on the measured power.

    Abstract: La presente se refiere a un método y aparato para implementar la codificadora por bloques en espacio y frecuencia (SFBC) en un sistema de comunicaciones inalámbricas multiplex por division de frecuencia ortogonal (OFDM). La presente se aplica tanto a un modo de bucle cerrado como a un modo de bucle abierto. En el modo de bucle cerrado, la carga de potencia y la formacion del haz propio se realizan en base a la informacion del estado del canal (CSI). Una corriente de datos codificada en el canal se multiplexa en dos o más corrientes de datos. La carga de potencia se efectua en base a la CSI en cada una de las corrientes de datos multiplexadas. La codificacion SFBC se realiza en las corrientes de datos para cada una de las subportadoras agrupadas en pares. Luego, se realiza una formacion de haces propios en base a la CSI para calcular los haces propios en multiples antenas de transmision. La carga de potencia puede realizarse en dos o más bloques de codificacion SFBC o en cada modo propio. Adicionalmente, la carga de potencia puede efectuarse a través de las subportadoras o grupos de subportadoras para modos propios débiles.

    Abstract: A base station using a method of controlling initial power ramp-up in CDMA systems by using short codes is disclosed for controlling transmission power during the establishment of communications between a base station and another communicating unit is disclosed. The base station includes means for detecting a periodic signal having an initial predetermined power level, which is repeatedly sent to the base station at increasing power levels; means for transmitting a confirmation signal when a periodic signal having a sufficient power for detection is received; and means for receiving a call signal transmitted subsequent to the confirmation signal transmitting. The disclosed base station is particularly useful for overcoming the problems of power overshoot and interference to other base stations known in the art and to provide for a base station to quickly synchronize to the spreading code used by the communicating unit.
