    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer adsorbent having high adsorbing capacity and the good wettability with water by copolymerizing a hydrophobic monomer, which consists of divinylbenzene, a specific styrenic monomer, and a specific water-soluble monomer. CONSTITUTION:99-90wt.% of a hydrophobic monomer consisting of divinylbenzene and a styrenic monomer represented by formula I (wherein R1 is H or CH3 and R2 is H or a 1-3C alkyl group) and 1-10wt.% of a water-soluble monomer having a carboxyl or hydroxyl group are used and suspended or dispersed in an aqueous medium in the presence of a polymerization initiator and a porosity imparting agent to be copolymerized. The polymer particles thus obtained have the good surface wettability with water and excellent adsorbing capacity. Therefore, said particles are excellent in discoloring capacity, deodorizing capacity, and the removal/recovery of impurities.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the cleaning property of the title toner by constituting the toner of a spherical toner particle having specified mean volume particle size and atomic ratio of a fluorine atom. to a carbon atom. in the surface layer of a toner particle, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The toner is constituted of the spherical toner particle which has the mean volume particle size of 2-20mum and contains the fluorine atom. in the surface layer of the toner particle in the atomic ratio of the fluorine atom. to the carbon atom. of a range of 0.01-1.000. The toner particle is produced by a suspension polymerization method. In this case, when the atomic ratio of the fluorine atom. to the carbon atom. is =1.0, adversely, the effect of the fluorine atom. to the electrostatic charging property of the toner particle becomes large, thereby taking place an undesirable phenomenon in image quality such as a white spot and an image unsharp, etc. Thus, in case that the toner particle is produced by the suspension polymerization, the faulty cleaning property of the toner particle caused by sticking force is improved, and the toner having the good flowability and the less change of the image quality which are the characteristic of the toner particle obtd. by the suspension polymerization is obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility of magnetic powder, surface smoothness and durability by consisting a binder of a polyurethane resin produced by using a lactone-modified diol. CONSTITUTION:The binder for a magnetic recording medium consisting of the polyurethane resin formed by using the lactone-modified diol expressed by the formula is used. A magnetic layer constituted by dispersing ferromagnetic powder into such binder is proved on a non-magnetic substrate. The polyure thane resin may be either of the polyurethane resin of which both terminals of the molecule are an isocyanate group and the resin of which one terminal is the isocyanate group and the other terminal is a hydroxyl group. The average mol.wt. thereof is relatively preferably in a 1,000-100,000 range. The proportion of the binder and the pulverous ferromagnetic powder. The performance of both the dispersibility and durability is thereby extremely improved.
