Abstract: PURPOSE:A flame retardant resin composition that is prepared by adding melamine cyanurate and an amide, diol or carboxylate salt to a thermoplastic resin, thus being flame retardant, keeping inherent properties of the resin as high mechanical and electrical properties and further showing improved surface characteristic. CONSTITUTION:To 100 parts by wt of a thermoplastic resin, as nylon 6 are added 3-20 parts, preferably 5-15 parts, of melamine cyanurate, 0.05-20 parts of at least one selected from the compounds of formula I-IV (R2 and R4 are alkylene; R1 and R3 are residue of 9-20C fatty acid; n is 2 or more integral number; R5 and R6 are residue of 9-30 C fatty acid; M is H, metal in group IA, IIB, IIIA in the periodic table; R7 is residue of 2-20C fatty acid alcohol). The especially preferable compounds in formula I to IV are ethylenebisstearylamide, polyethylene glycol, magnesium stearate or others.
