Abstract:
PURPOSE: A steel cord for reinforcing a tire is provided to improve the strength of a tire and to reduce the thickness of a tire belt by rolling and compressing adjacent wires. CONSTITUTION: A steel cord(1) for reinforcing a tire is composed of plural wires(2). The wires are formed by the periodical twisting. The adjacent wires are compressed toward the rolled direction by rolling. The cross section of the wire is formed with a non-circular shape. The ratio of the long diameter about the short diameter is 1.1~3.0.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A steel cord of a tire is provided to improve the durability of the steel cord by preventing fretting and permeating rubber efficiently with reducing the number of filaments and arranging two core filaments in parallel, and to increase bending resistance by lowering the topping gauge with the oval section of the steel cord. CONSTITUTION: A steel cord for a carcass of a pneumatic radial tire is composed of a core layer in which two filaments are arranged in a line without braiding; a first sheath layer surrounding the core filaments and having eight filaments; and a second sheath layer braiding near the first sheath layer and having 13 or 14 filaments. The structure of the steel cord includes two core filaments, 8 filaments in the first sheath layer and 13 or 14 filaments in the second sheath layer or the lapping filament as the outermost layer. Corrosion or breakage of the tire is prevented with permeating rubber between sheath filaments, and the weight of the tire is reduced by decreasing the thickness of the carcass with reducing the minor axis of the core. The steering stability is improved by increasing bending stiffness with the oval section of the cord.
Abstract:
A steel cord for a tire reinforcement having a non-circular cross-section includes: a lower strand; and an upper strand that surrounds an outer circumferential surface of the lower strand so as to have an m+n structure, wherein the lower strand includes a plurality of core wires, each of the plurality of core wires have a flat surface on a portion in which the plurality of the core wires come into contact with each other, and the plurality of core wires come into surface contact with each other through the flat surface.
Abstract:
With respect to a steel cord obtained by twining one layer of sheath filament of steel with uneven distribution around multiple core filaments of steel parallelly drawn together in nontwined form, it is intended to attain an enhancement of rubber penetration (satisfactory adhesion of rubber to core filaments) through securing of interstices between filaments at the time of vulcanization. The sectional major axis diameters of steel cord (10) are set larger than the minimum sectional major axis. Accordingly, when a steel cord is coated with rubber (16) and vulcanized, interstices (A) are secured between individual sheath filaments (14) even if tension and, from surrounding rubber, pressure (p) apply to the steel cord. As the rubber (16) enters through the interstices, satisfactory adhesion of the rubber (16) to core filaments (12) would be realized, thereby ensuring high rubber penetration.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tyre (1) comprises a tread portion (2), a pair of sidewall portions (3), a pair of bead portions (4), and a carcass ply (6) of steel cords (10) extending between the bead portions (4) through the tread portion (2) and sidewall portions (3). Each of the carcass cords (10) comprises a number "n" of steel filaments (F) each having a diameter (d) of from 0.17 to 0.40 mm. The steel filaments (F) are twisted together to have a "1Xn" bundle-twist structure or an interlace-twist structure. In a vicinity of the maximum tyre section width point P of each of the sidewall portions, a sectional shape coefficient S of each carcass cord is set in a range of from 0.5 to 0.9, wherein the sectional shape coefficient S is (d 2 X n)/(L1 X L2), "n" is the number of the filaments, "d" is the average of the diameters of the filaments, "L1" is the largest measure of distance between two extremities of the cord which occurs in a direction in a cross section of the cord, and "L2" is the measure of distance between two extremities of the cord in a direction perpendicular to the above-mentioned direction.
Abstract:
A pneumatic radial tire having tire components consisting of steel cords. These steel cords have the following features: (a) The cords have a (1 + N)-filament structure fabricated by twisting together N sheath filaments around a core filament that has been spirally curled longitudinally of the cords; (b) The horizontal cross section of each cord has a low profile; (c) In the horizontal cross section of the cord, gaps are left between the adjacent sheath filaments, thus forming an open structure; (d) The core filament is wedged in between the sheath filaments; and (e) The direction in which the sheath filaments are twisted together is identical with the direction in which the core filament has been spirally curled.
