Abstract:
Color calibration of color image rendering devices, such as large color displays (1500, 1600), which operate by either projection or emission of images, utilize internal color measurement instrument (1508) or external color measurement modules (1608) locatable on a wall or speaker. A dual use camera (1910, 1943) is provided for a portable or laptop computer (1900), or a cellular phone, handset, personal digital assistant or other handheld device (1930) with a digital camera (1943), in which one of the camera or a display (1904, 1931) is movable with respect to the other to enable the camera in a first mode to capture images of the display for enabling calibration of the display, and in a second mode for capturing image other than of the display. The displays may represent rendering devices for enabling virtual proofing in a network, or may be part of stand-alone systems and apparatuses for color calibration. Improved calibration is also provided for sensing and correcting for non-uniformities of rendering devices, such as color displays, printer, presses, or other color image rendering device.

The method of calibrating a backlight apparatus comprises the steps of providing saved settings for a backlight driving circuit (104), providing a modified timing sequence to the backlight driving circuit (104) and at least one photo sensor (103), measuring light conditions of each individual light source or each individual group of light sources (120) in backlight unit (102), comparing measurement data with predefined light condition, calculating the adjustment required on backlight driving circuit (104) to achieve desired light conditions, and saving the calculated adjustment as new settings for backlight driving circuit (104).
Abstract:
A system and a method are provided for maintaining accurate visual color performance of displays. In particular, various embodiments of the present invention described herein provide a system wherein partial color certification is incorporated into the calibration procedure. In the event that the partial color certification is out of tolerance, a full certification procedure is performed. If the full certification procedure is out of tolerance, the calculated errors of the certification procedure are utilized to perform an update to a baseline profile for the display. The updated baseline profile can either replace the existing baseline profile or can be concatenated with the baseline profile to preserve the baseline behavior of the display.
Abstract:
A calibration system and a calibration method for a multi-display system are disclosed. Test patterns displayed on each screen of the multi-display system are captured by a handheld device. One of the captured images corresponding to a specific display is designated as a standard image such that the handheld device can compare the other captured images corresponding to the other displays with the standard image to determine at least one adjustment parameter for each display. The images output to each display can be adjusted according to the adjustment parameter so as to eliminate the display differences between the images.
Abstract:
A specific set of primaries for a reference color device and for a match display device is defined, which allows a better differenciation and/or a more efficient classification of the color perception characteristics of observers, when these devices are used in the apparatus.
Abstract:
A display apparatus is disclosed. The display apparatus includes a display unit which displays a calibration screen divided into a plurality of areas when a calibration mode is initiated, an image generating unit which generates a guide image for displaying an arrangement position of a calibrator, and a controlling unit which controls the display unit to display a guide image on areas where calibration is to be performed of the plurality of areas. Accordingly, it becomes possible to improve user convenience and exactness of calibration.
Abstract:
A display device, a mobile device, a system including the same, and an image quality matching method thereof are provided. According to the method, the mobile device acquires a first acquired image that is an image of a first displayed image being displayed on the first display device and a second acquired image that is an image of a second displayed image being displayed on the second display device, compares the first acquired image and the second acquired image with each other, determines an image quality correction value for the first display device so that an image quality of the first displayed image is made substantially equal to an image quality of the second displayed image, and transmits the determined image quality correction value to the first display device or the second display device.
Abstract:
An optical module includes a circuit substrate that has a concave portion and a flat surface portion, an optical sensor that is disposed inside a space, and an optical filter device that has a base which accommodates a variable wavelength interference filter and has a light-through hole through which light emitted from the variable wavelength interference filter passes and a first glass member which is disposed in the light-through hole. The first glass member is positioned inside the space. The base is bonded to the flat surface portion. The distance between the first glass member and the optical sensor is set to a distance in which light emitted from the variable wavelength interference filter does not interfere between the first glass member and the optical sensor.
