Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for obtaining images of bacterial cultures in a dish. The proposed device includes a support for a culture dish to be analyzed surrounded by an annular light emitting source facing an image capturing device and a non-reflective surface which, in conjunction with a reflective surface arranged in the periphery of the support, form a preferably spherical-shaped contrast observation chamber, providing a glare- and reflection-free, uniform tangent illumination of the support.
Abstract:
An earpiece monitor configured to be worn by a subject includes a battery, an earpiece fitting configured to be inserted within an ear canal of an ear of the subject, a reflective pulse oximeter configured to measure pulse rate and pulse intensity of the subject, a motion sensor configured to monitor footsteps and head motion of the subject, a digital memory for storing at least one algorithm, and a processor configured to process signals from the reflective pulse oximeter and the motion sensor using the at least one algorithm to generate as assessment of a health state of the subject. The earpiece fitting is configured to transmit sound to the inner ear or eardrum of the subject. The assessment of the health state of the subject may include an assessment of subject physiological stress and/or an assessment of overall subject health.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a light detection device and a method of using the device are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the light detection device can include a housing that extends along a housing axis between top and bottom surfaces. The device can also include a port that is adapted to receive a sample, and a door connected to the housing. The door can include an actuator portion adapted to selectively move the door between a closed position and an open position, and a cover portion connected to the actuator portion and adapted to close the port when the door is in the closed position and open the port when the door is in the open position to allow external access to the port.
Abstract:
A fitting for positioning a probe in a hot gas path within a casing of a gas turbine engine is disclosed herein. The fitting includes a main body attachable to the casing opposite the hot gas path. The main body includes an internal bore and one or more cooling holes in communication with the internal bore. A compliant seal is positionable within the internal bore. In addition, a follower is positionable within the internal bore adjacent to the compliant seal. Moreover, the fitting includes a fastener configured to mate with the main body. In this manner, the follower deforms the compliant seal about the probe within the main body to secure and seal the probe within the main body.
Abstract:
A sensor device configured to be attached to a drug delivery device and configured to illuminate the drug delivery device when attached, the sensor device having an OLED having a transparent first electrode, a transparent second electrode and a central layer disposed between the first and second electrodes, the central layer comprising at least one organic layer, the at least one organic layer configured to emit light through the transparent first electrode, and an optical sensor arranged to receive light reflected from a surface of the drug delivery device, wherein the central layer of the OLED has a region without the at least one organic layer and wherein the optical sensor is arranged, when the sensor device is attached to the drug delivery device, to view a predetermined area of the surface of the drug delivery device through the region without the at least one organic layer.
Abstract:
An optical sensor holding device adapted to be integrated with a flexible bag, said device comprising a bag attachment part made from a material that can be welded to the flexible bag; a sensor attachment part made from a material to which an optical sensor spot can be attached, wherein the sensor attachment part is forced into an opening in the bag attachment part that is slightly smaller than the sensor attachment part such that the sensor attachment part is kept firmly in place and leakage is minimized.
Abstract:
Wearable apparatus for monitoring various physiological and environmental factors are provided. Real-time, noninvasive health and environmental monitors include a plurality of compact sensors integrated within small, low-profile devices, such as earpiece modules. Physiological and environmental data is collected and wirelessly transmitted into a wireless network, where the data is stored and/or processed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (1) for FTIR absorption spectroscopy, having an ATR sensor (5) and at least one ultrasonic transmitter (10) for generating an ultrasonic field in the manner of a standing wave. The ATR sensor (5) and the ultrasonic transmitter (10) are connected to a mounting (4) which is provided for attachment in a wall (2) or cover of a reactor (3) and which is set up to hold the ATR sensor (5) and the ultrasonic transmitter (10) so that they freely project into the interior of the reactor (3) in the mounted state.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an analysis device for optical analysis of a medium by means of at least one imaging apparatus (3), the analysis device comprising at least one sample carrier (6, 8), and in that the sample carrier (6, 8) and/or the at least one imaging apparatus (2) can be pivoted or rotated by means of at least one drive mechanism.
Abstract:
A system for lighting a stent, i.e., providing an illumination source, to facilitate the capturing of an image of the stent. The lighting is provided so that an image capturing device, e.g., a digital camera or system, will capture an image that distinctly shows the difference between the stent and any surface upon which the stent is mounted, in addition to sharply defining the edges of the stent struts.
