    Abstract: Un método de diseño de dispositivos dentales para reposicionar dientes, comprendiendo el método: obtener un primer conjunto de datos digitales que representan una disposición de dientes inicial de un paciente; generar una representación informatizada del sistema masticatorio de un paciente; calcular una oclusión de los dientes superiores e inferiores del paciente a partir de la representación informatizada del sistema masticatorio del paciente; determinar el reposicionamiento requerido de los dientes superiores e inferiores basado en la oclusión calculada; generar un conjunto digital final sobre la base del reposicionamiento requerido de los dientes superiores e inferiores; determinar una pluralidad de conjuntos digitales intermedios basados en el conjunto de datos digitales iniciales y en el conjunto de datos digitales finales, correspondiendo dicha pluralidad de conjuntos de datos digitales a una pluralidad de dispositivos dentales, siendo los dispositivos armazones poliméricos que tienen cavidades receptoras del diente con las cavidades de los sucesivos armazones que tienen geometrías diferentes, de forma que, en uso, el desgaste de los sucesivos dispositivos en sucesión reposicione progresivamente los dientes de una disposición a otra disposición sucesiva.

    Abstract: A system and method for modeling of complete tooth, including root and crown, of a patient to facilitate orthodontic treatment are provided, wherein generic tooth modeling is combined with tooth crown modeling for a patient to yield complete tooth modeling. A generic tooth 3D model for a particular tooth is morphed with a 3D model of a patient's crown for the corresponding tooth to yield a complete 3D model for that tooth. Modeling techniques can be conducted with computer-based systems, such as systems configured for storing patient data and generic tooth data, morphing such data and/or facilitating additional orthodontic treatment applications, through the use of one or more algorithms. Adjustment of the complete tooth model for the tooth can be provided through additional patient information, such as X-ray imaging, to address variations in root shape between a generic root and an actual root shape for a patient.

    Abstract: Pliers for forming and removing bumps for the dental appliance without heating are disclosed. The pliers for making the bumps include a first elongated member having a first jaw portion at one end and a handle portion at the other end, the jaw portion having a projection mounted at a distal end of the first jaw portion; and a second elongated member joined to the first elongated member, the second elongated member having a second jaw portion at one end and a second handle portion at the other end, the second jaw portion adapted to receive the projection to create the bump in the dental appliance without heating. The bump can be supplemented with a material such as an adhesive.
