Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method suitable for dental treatment planning.SOLUTION: Computer-implemented systems and methods implement a dental treatment plan by specifying tooth movement patterns using a two-dimensional array; and generating treatment paths to move the teeth in accordance with the specified pattern. Further this invention provides a computer system including a processor, a data storing device coupled to the processor, a computer-implementable code for specifying the tooth movement patterns using the two-dimensional array, and a computer-implementable code for generating the treatment paths to move the teeth in accordance with the specified pattern.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a tooth of a patient to a position where the tooth functions optimally and is aesthetically pleased. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a dental template to position an object onto the tooth of the patient includes a process for preparing a model of the tooth of the patient; a process for adding the object in a prescribed position on the tooth model; and a process for manufacturing the dental template to position the object in the tooth of the patient. The dental template supports, in one aspect, the objects to be positioned onto the teeth of the patient oriented to array all the objects in an ideal arrangement defined by a user as the whole. The method of manufacturing the dental template includes a process for digitalizing the tooth of the patient, a process for adding a virtual object in a prescribed position on the digitalized tooth, and a process for manufacturing the dental template to position the object in the tooth of the patient. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move patient's teeth to a position where the teeth function optimally and are also aesthetically pleasing. SOLUTION: A method for fabricating a dental template to position an object on a patient's tooth includes the steps of: preparing a model of the patient's tooth; adding objects to predetermined positions on the tooth model; and fabricating the dental template to locate the object at the position on the patient's tooth. The dental template supports positioning the object on the patient's tooth oriented in such a way that all the objects as a whole are lined up to a user-defined ideal arrangement. The method for fabricating the template includes: digitizing the patient's teeth; adding virtual objects to predetermined locations on the digitized teeth; and fabricating the dental template to locate the object on the patient's teeth. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique realized by using a computer for digitally modelling the gingival tissue of an orthodontic patient, including deformation of the gingival tissue during orthodontic treatment. SOLUTION: The computer obtains a digital model of a patient's dentition, including a dental model representing the patient's teeth at a set of initial positions and a gingival model representing gum tissue surrounding the teeth. The computer then derives (540, 542, 544, 546, 548) from the digital model an expected deformation of the gum tissue as the teeth move from the initial positions to another set of positions. Abstract:
